My little brother lost his right arm in a piece of farm equipment at the age of 4. That was back in 1968.
My other brother and I didn't treat him any differently than we would have if he had 2 arms, in fact, we really didn't notice anything he couldn't do that we could.
Today he is the IT for the local county government, and the fastest one-handed typist I have ever seen. He has remodeled his house BY HIMSELF, assembled a kit car BY HIMSELF, and his previous job was running a CNC lathe for a local machine company.
And he does it all "single-handedly"!
