Terminal Bellevue Big Guy Is Astounded By McDonald's Pay
« on: March 05, 2015, 09:54:45 PM »
The Bellevue Big Guy (who is dying) seems to be trying to take DUmbass kpete's place, flooding the DUmp with inane copy-and-paste junk, then leaving without posting even a single word of his own, outside the title.

upworthy: Here’s a paycheck for a McDonald’s worker. And here's my jaw dropping to the floor.

http://www.upworthy.com/heres-a-paycheck-for-a-mcdonalds-worker-heres-my-jaw-dropping-to-the-floor?c=upw1

Curator: Brandon Weber

So we've all heard the numbers, but what does that mean in reality? Here's one year's wages — yes, *full-time* wages. Woo.

I've written tons of things about minimum wage, backed up by fact-checkers and economists and scholarly studies. All of them point to raising the minimum wage as a solution to lifting people out of poverty and getting folks off of public assistance. It's slowly happening, and there's much more to be done.

But when it comes right down to it, where the rubber meets the road is what it means for everyday workers who have to live with those wages. I honestly don't know how they do it.

Ask yourself: Could I live on this small of a full-time paycheck? I know what my answer is.

(And note that the minimum wage in many parts of the county is STILL $7.25, so it would be even less than this.)

After which, a photograph of a statement claiming that a part-time McDonald's kid made nearly $14,000 last year.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/10026317767

I gotta admit, I missed the point of this post entirely.

When the Bellevue Big Guy (who is dying) wrote something about this statement being jaw-dropping, I looked at it and actually agreed.

A part-time kid flipping burgers after school can make over $1000 a month? Jaw-dropping money.

Then I realized he actually meant it was LOW!! Whaaa?

1. Unbelieveable. They think people can live off this?

They know they can't but they don't care.

When did anyone believe you could live off a job flipping burgers at McD's?

At 14, If I made $14,000.00 a year, I would have been rich beyond my wildest expectations.
Even at 15, 16, 17, 18.
And as was indicated by the mini taco that was PART TIME!!!
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

52. Full time at minimum wage

nets TWICE my annual Social Security check. No two months are the same, it's a continuous juggling act, trying to figure out which shoe will drop next, trying to stay ready. There's never enough, there are no savings, and any opportunity to contribute to savings stopped decades ago.

According to Republicans, that makes me a moocher. According to Republicans (and some here) I should have been smarter, should have tried harder, shouldn't have allowed the circumstances that led to disability -- people in my circumstances get "should" on with sickening frequency. And the same, sadly, can be said for far too many who toil for the near non-existence provided by minimum wage. American 'exceptionalism', it turns out, includes no reliable measure of kindness.

In case one needs the math done, that's a whooping 23 years of a free ride.

Yeah, as a primitive mentioned, that's nearly $14,000 a year working only 30 or so hours a week.

Some of us could be so lucky.....

4. It's about a 30 hour week, actually.

These workers at the bottom are often kept under 30 hours to avoid having to pay benefits for them.

Welcome to the strange new world of small-business hiring under ObamaCare.

The savings from restricting hours worked can be enormous. If a company with 50 employees hires a new worker for $12 an hour for 29 hours a week, there is no health insurance requirement. But suppose that worker moves to 30 hours a week. This triggers the $2,000 federal penalty. So to get 50 more hours of work a year from that employee, the extra cost to the employer rises to about $52 an hour—the $12 salary and the ObamaCare tax of what works out to be $40 an hour.

The problem with mooching Dummies is that they don't understand the true nature of being poor.  They sit in an Air-conditioned/heated housing unit provided by the government, eating food provided by the government's EBT program, and using internet and phone provided by the government.

I would love to see a Dummy experience third-world poverty.

A lot of the native Islanders I saw in the south Pacific literally lived in grass huts with dirt or sand floors, and their dinner running around in the yard or at the end of a fishing pole.
No electricity, no air conditioning. No phone no lights no motorcar.
One step below Gilligan's Island.
It's a great way to live...temporarily, and optionally.
But permanently...no way.
Not for an American who has experienced better.
I would love to see that too.
The only downside is that they would never freeze to death.

Yeah, I would love for some DUmmie to experience the Gorebull Warmingtm we've had here the last 2 weeks in a grass hut, better yet, NO hut!  They like to preach "science over creation", how about a little "natural selection".

It's obvious why so many on the left and DUmmies in particular want the minimum wage raised.  First, that is what most if not all of them are only qualified for. Second, under the Obama Regime, minimum wage, part time service jobs are all that is being created.

Entry-level jobs for high school students and college students were never intended to be how adults support their families. Adults who try to do so need to look at themselves in the mirror for the cause of their improvidence.

Poor education? Shoulda paid attention in Math class! Start learning now!

Poor work ethic? Change!

My son quit school when he turned 18. (One of the saddest days of my life....he's a smart boy). He started a job at Zaxby's making minimum wage and working less than 30 hours a week.

He's now 24, has a GED, and has gotten a job making more money than I do.

Minimum wage jobs are NOT supposed to be permanent family supporting jobs. They are a stepping stone and a learning experience. While working in fast food, my son developed a good work ethic (he NEVER called in sick or missed a day). He also learned how to work FOR others (taking instructions/orders, respecting his boss, etc). He made virtually NO money while at Zaxby's; but the lessons learned will stick with him for life. Working for peanuts was also the motivating factor he needed to get his GED. He realized if he didn't finish his education...jobs like that were all he was going to get.
