I pity NJCher's family... but not really. They could whack her in the head with a shovel and bury her in the back yard, if they wanted to.
...If she hadn't purposely been so careful and cunning about keeping them weak from malnutrition, that is.
I'd trash the dried tomatoes (You spend hours drying them, then rehydrate them in the soup the same day??? W. T. F.?), tortellinis, rutabagas, spinach, and most of the thyme and garlic, and throw in potatoes, a can of tomatoes, add some salt and pepper, possibly a little sage or allspice, and then regard it as actually worth cooking...but still just beef vegetable soup, and so something that would be a whole lot easier to just get out of a can in the first place.
