What could DU have done better?

I know everybody's feeling low but let's take a minute and consider how we can be more effective next time around?

2. I don't get how this board could have made any

difference in the election.

If people don't give a shit this board isn't going to reach them.

My wife who votes but has nothing else political on her mind all year hasn't a clue about how things went yesterday and probably never will.

I did.

So did my 500 closest personal friends.

Wouldn't have seen it without DU.

Anyway we're both here, so no point in me arguing with you that the site is worthwhile!

3. Well, we could start by not thinking anything we do or did can change america that much.

I mean really, it is time for DU to get over itself. We are not the center of the universe in relation to america or even democrats. More and more all DU does is call people they disagree with ugly names. After 13 plus years of it I think the whole place is past its sell date and starting to stink up the internet.*
 
If you really want to make a difference try to understand why other people do not think the way you do. get up from your computers and talk to people and quit with all the ****ing childish name calling. Calling people you disagree with "stupid" and making fun of everyone's names is just a useless exercise.

Prople here keep telling our candidates to show some backbone. Don't campaign like a Republican Lite. Point out what Republicans have done or tried to do. Show charts. Draw pictures!
 
But the wisdom of DWS and the DNC tells them " oh, just be nice to Republicans and agree with them about the President as much as you can.
 
Dems should pay attention to Karl Turdshit Rove a little. Dems seem to think they need to get 100% of the vote, so they count on their base plus appealing to as many Republicans as possible, including the NRA and Teabaggers who will NEVER vote for them anyway. Karl Rove is wise enough to know that it only takes 50% plus one vote to win an election.

The real problem is that half the people here, especially "youth," are libertarians, not Democrats.

On a side note CC... I'm wondering if DU isn't getting ready for a big purge here in the next few days?  Dummies tend to eat their own when things don't go their way and it definitely did not go their way last nite.

I would not be surprised if a purge is coming. I think it happened following 2010 Midterm Election.

Skin's would prefer the "Let's promote and vote for the Dem candidate and support the current Dem office holder" type members. But the board is being overrun with "The party needs to politically aim towards Stalin and Chairman Mao" far left.

Thing is when the really way out far left starts to become the main part of a forum, it's not long until the members who used to be the really way out far left start looking like the sane ones compared to the new ones coming on board. Before you know it you've got a board of militant radicals who are talking about how to bomb the Pentagon. Better to purge some of the current far way out libs and try to send a message to the rest that you'll allow the site to only go so far.

But who knows what Skin's will do. I think the place quit being fun for him several years back. Once the site becomes more hassle than lucrative, he'll bug out and either try and sell it (who would buy it?) or just pull the plug.

Skins has already taken a hands off attitude by establishing juries and MIRT to let the primitives rule themselves. Seeing what happens when they are left to their own devices like that tells us normal people that they should never run the government.
