DUmmy Atman McGrath hasn't worked since being fired by a political junk mail company during the spring of 2012.

With no marketable skill and no apparent work ethic, he's lived off his wife's income.

Atman seems a lot like Bill Pitt, but without the excuse of alcoholism.

Anyway, it's popular at the DUmp to make up stories of charity to troll for compliments, so Atman decided to give it a twirl:

You'da thunk I sent a million dollars!

An old friend of mine has been going through some tough times. She and her family lived in middle Georgia, renting a house that turned out to be full of black mold. Had to move, so they moved back home to Florida, where hubby had landed a job. After one month of work, the company went belly up, hubby only got two weeks pay. They had to move again. All their savings eaten up in moving expenses. Now they have no money for even the basics.

So the other night I wondered what the hell I'd do in such a situation. You can't feed the family or put gas in the car because you have to give all your money to a big utility to keep the lights on. They can't get public assistance in Florida because, A) they just moved from Georgia and don't have proper Florida ID, and B) they moved to Florida. Not the friendliest state in the union.

So I send them a $100 Publix gift card. It ****ed up my own budget, but at least I have a roof over my head and some work. Today I got a message from her. If you can express crying over the internet, she did it. Massively excited to go to Publix and pick out some fresh produce and protein instead of Frozen Sodium Boxes from the 7-11.

Point being, we donate produce from our garden to the local food bank. We help wherever we can, charities are great. But often times there are people you actually know that need some help. They're often too embarrassed or ashamed to reach out. Don't wait for them to ask. If you know of someone who is hurting, extend a hand. In this case, the reaction to $100 seemed as if I'd just given them a million. They can eat salad for a few nights instead of a pack of Pizza Rolls.

Sometimes we on DU talk about the pain others are suffering, but then just log off and go to bed. Tonight I'll go to bed with a bit of smile in my heart, knowing an old friend won't have to eat Tostino's again. At least not this week.

How long were they in Georgia before finding the mold? Conveniently, they found the mold after the guy found a job in Florida, but that job ended abruptly?

Those drug running jobs usually aren't long term contracts, are they?

And he had to fit in the "healthy food" theme that's so fashionable with the moonbats these days.  Those humblebrag threads of theirs are so nauseating. 

Speaking of nauseating healthy food, I ran across a product a company's trying to push in the schools, (which must conform to impossible parameters.)  It's a patty of some sort, made with ground turkey, brown rice, a tofu-substance, and chopped dried cherries.  Pack your kids' lunch, folks.
