A DOTY rules question
« on: August 22, 2014, 06:28:18 PM »
I know that DOTY voting is still a bit away, but recent developments have brought a question to my mind. The question may have been answered previously. and I just missed it. If so, that be retardant on my part, and I apologize.

Does an individual have to participate for an entire year in order to be considered for DOTY honors?

I ask because with each passing day it seems that the rudder that guides the clueless membership of DU, aka nadin, is not returning. While I personally feel that she is being selfish and greedy in withholding her wisdom from the witless members of the island, I have resigned myself to the fact that it is her decision to make.

No, a primitive can be on Skins's island only a single minute during a whole year, and if he makes a big enough splash--it'd have to be the size of the Tsar Bomba, though, not very likely--he can be nominated and selected for the Top DUmmies.

Incidentally, I just checked; it's not that far away.

Nominations begin Thanksgiving Eve, November 26, a scant 95 days away.

Thanks coach.

Now I have one more question.

When making a nomination or campaigning for a nominee, does the entirety of the nominee's body of work have to come from DU (and I assume DI)? Or can work from other public and readily available sources be considered?

This, it troubles my soul, wounds my heart.

But writing the awards is a lot of work, to be done in such a short time.

The primitive's performance on Skins's island is the only thing that matters.

Nowhere else, even on Discussionist.  Just Skins's island.

Oh well. Rules are rules.

I guess I could start some sort of online petition in an attempt to get the individual in question to return to her guiding role at DU, but DU's success rate of 0 for 29,432 when it comes to online petitions leads me to believe that online petitions aren't very effective.

Such is life.

It's a judgement call.

Think of our colleague Mr Mannn's torment of the cousin on Discussionist.

If some primitive conduct elsewhere can be tied to the primitive's conduct on Skins's island, it's okay to use that material for a nomination.

What I'm saying is the primitive has to be a member of Skins's island.

To clarify, as I might've confused the issue: no one a member of Discussionist, but not also a member of Skins's island, will be eligible for nomination and election.

I think the DUmmies have been very boring and lethargic this year.

Maybe they'll perk up after the election.  :-)

True. Maybe we'll get to hear their stolen elections meme again.

Also, if Israel finally decides to bring real peace the only way that Hamas understands the MaleLice DUmmie may go completely off the rails and provide some entertainment. If there was a BOTY award I'm sure she'd be a front runner.

I think we need to discuss this some, frank. My opinion is DOTY is only for posts made on the island. Discussionist is off the island and nothing that goes on there should be a part of DOTY.

But that's just me.

To clarify, if the boy primitive says something on Discussionist, that's not relevant to DOTY but only the things he says on the island. That would be my opinion on the matter.

I hope others will also weigh in, but unless we have a majority (1/2 or maybe 2/3rds) of those of us who regularly post here and CU can agree to change, we should keep the rules the same as they've always been, which would mean Discussionist isn't part of the mix.

That seems like it's clearly your point here, and I would agree.

Suffice it to say, I'm sending Healing White Light to guide her back to DU. I figure at least 60 F***tons ( or 237.643 Metric Buttloads ) should be enough to guide her back.. Or bury Mexico. - Either way, its a win-win.

Posts at the Junior DUmp, Facebook, Twitter, East County Magazine, and Reporting San Diego should be considered, provided the DUmmy has won awards, is a pro journo, and wishes she didn't know all the shit she knows.

It's torridly hot here, and my brain's fried.

Discussionist isn't part of the mix, but general outside (outside of Skins's island) performance may be used to justify an award......all to be given to primitives on Skins's island, nowhere else.

The awards usually have at least tidbits of outside performance in them anyway.
