The best that you can do is ruin the Fourth.

Note how TS Arthur becomes a hurricane Thursday morning.

My in-laws left yesterday to go home and they're going right into this. :whatever:

I'm sitting in Ocracoke right now wondering what the orders will be from count, state and US Park Service.

Don't think this storm will be more than a sustained thunderstorm for us, so hopefully no evacuation.  Then I remember Alex and the buses taking people off the island due to just about everyone's cars getting flooded and incapacitated.

Anyway it's sunny and rather nice right now.  We'll see what tomorrow brings.....

That song was the theme song for the original "Arthur" starring Dudley Moore, and Sir John Geilgud.

On the recent remake they got an addle brained British lib to portray Arthur. The guy has gone off his rocker with wild lib screeds as of late.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

Joe Bastardi of WeatherBell had a statement yesterday as to why that's happening.  Something about the water off the southeast coast of the US being really warm and allowing storms to rapidly develop.

Just up the road from you, on the inland side. Spent the morning getting all the stuff that could blow around put up in the garage. Now we're getting ready to start smoking a brisket, a tradition we started with our first hurricane in New Orleans. Prayers for your safety!

No power on the island and none expected till tomorrow.  30 power poles down on ocracoke, waiting for crews and supplies on the first ferry (still not sure when they'll allow them to run).

Thankfully the storm hit at low tide so most surge/flooding was reduced.  Actually not too bad for a Cat2 storm, been through much worse during strong Cat1 storm.

We are good. Almost a non-event here. What a difference a few miles make with these storms! Brisket is STILL smoking...apparently the only way to do it right is low and slow
