The last I heard the A-10s (Warthogs) have been moth balled.....just when we need them the most.

Doesn't the Pentagon want to scrap them, but congress is trying to keep them? Or is it the other way around?

Pentagon claims they can do the A-10's job with the new F-35 and the F-16.  They say mothballing the fleet will save 3.7 billion.


Problem with the Pentagon's "fix" is neither of those aircraft can fly as low as the A-10 or absorb the damage a Warthog can take.

The Congress critters in the districts where the A-10's are based are fighting the cuts.  Lets hope they succeed.

Yeah, I thought the main benefits of the Warthogs were their ability to fly low and slow with a fairly tight radius to stay on target, too.
