poll: has Skins's island had its day?
« on: May 29, 2014, 05:01:33 AM »
I suppose I first noticed a certain disturbing trend about four years ago, when the quality of the primitives and of the primitive comments on Skins's island seemed to be slipping.

Unlike in the long-ago past, it seemed odd that there weren't any attempts to recruit new high-class primitives to replace those leaving; the place was just left alone to slide downhill.

But then when Skins and Lord Marblehead EarlG shut the doors on their web-design business, that seemed a sure indication they were suffering from mid-life crises, and looking around for something new and exciting to do with their lives.

More recently, the takeover of Skins's island by the rabid screeching banshee she-women; well, the ease and quickness with which that was done, suggested that Skins and Lord Marblehead weren't watching the store as much as they used to; as if they didn't care much any more.

There was the creation of Discussionist, but given its Playskool look and layout--the whole thing created, and the colors filled in, in like half an hour--as a shiny new toy for the primitives, while those in the executive offices of Skins's island were preoccupied with making some sort of quick getaway.

I think Skins, Lord Marblehead, and Elad are going to go into some new, more lucrative, sort of business, leaving Skins's island to decline and rot just as DU2, the old DU, had been abandoned when the new one was created.

More power to Skins and Elad if they find better uses for their talents, but man, what are the primitives to do, as the island slowly sinks into the sea?

I said "not sure."  I think that Skins' Island roars into life again, in another realm, soon.  Why?  Political cycles come and go.  The primitives think that they've managed to interrupt the Natural Scheme Of Things by electing Teh Won.  It's going to come swinging back, in a big way, very soon.  It will be accompanied by much wailing and gnashing of teeth.  Whether it happens on Skins' Isle, or Kos, or Stormfront, or Discussionist, or Twitter; it doesn't matter.  It'll go on and on and on and on and on and on and . . .  :banghead:

Skins opened the doors of the demented misfit amusement park with the normal naiveté of a DNC know it all.
What has entered and then shit all over the park benches is an ungrateful, demanding, hysterical bunch of losers, crybabies and outright certifiably insane...in other words, typical leftists.

I think Skins has gotten tired of the yammering, never happy and always fussing for more goodies derangement.
On top of that his income had stagnated (yes DUmbasses,he has prospered greatly off your misery) so in the matter of a few days a new site was created.
It is not revolutionary in any way,it is the DUmps rambling and unhinged posting format with colors added in.
More income, more amusement watching those that he gave a home to,then they pissed on his shoes, shrieking into the night and knowing that after November when democrats likely will be decimated the primitives will be back to wailing and shaking their balled up little fists at the sky instead of at him.

The jury system should have been a clue to the primitives but of course as half wits on their best day they had no idea what it meant.
Here is a hint lurking DUmbasses...imagine turning the sound on the TV set all the way down.
You can still see what is going on but no annoying noise.

Skins hates you single brain celled mutants and laughs at your impotent rage at life as much as we do.

All very good points. I think even the most demented on the Isle of Skins know that the only real question come November is just how many coats of shellac will the Republicans apply to the hides of the Dims. The DUmmies just cannot figure out what base coat to apply, should it be claims of racism, voter fraud, right wing insanity, media bias or perhaps a hybrid of all.

My DUmmy mole on the Isle of Skins stands at the ready to savor the pure entertainment of it all.

Boy, that's a tough call.

There's still the prosense 100% cultists vs the mannygoldstein 99% cultists for the moment, and I suppose that dynamic will remain. But at this point all they do is rehash the same things over the newest developments. I would have liked to have said "newest issues", but the issues are the same, just different world events driving them. So how long can that continue? I dunno. How long can insane individuals fight the same battles over and over? So given that it could last a while.

The other discussionist forum has quickly worn thin. As a conservative you've got only a few things you can do there: 1) Go in and tell them how it is and get banned, 2) be their little pet conservative and they'll let you stay, and 3) make an occasional post which destroys their little world, but then you can't follow-up or they'll try to trap you into becoming #1. Obviously that's not all, but that seems to be the main ones. I think that place will become the home of all the whacknuts who are so stupid even Skin's island doesn't want them, and those from the island who still want to mix it up with them. To what end I don't know, but I suppose it's a revenue stream for Skins or he wouldn't be bothering with it. There's clearly enough nutsos who have been banned from the island to have their own site. What is it to these libs about needing to be connected to the island I'll never understand.

I gotta go with not sure, at least in the short term. In the long run, yeah, unless they get away from the 100% vs 99% re-dos, it won't last. And it can only go one way if one side has to leave, and that's the 100% dem party worshippers.

The only chance for a rejuvenated Island is for Republicans to win the senate and keep the House.  Right now, they don't have a specific enemy to unify against.

If that happens and they hold on until the fall of 2016 and a republican wins the presidency, then they will come roaring back with a vengeance.

Will that mean then that the cave starts to rot like the DUmp?  :(

I'm not so sure about that.

I have a nagging feeling that because things continue to go from bad to worse to even worse, that the social and political environment's going to be considerably different than it is today.

I have no idea how it's going to change, but I imagine it's going to be completely different.

Nope. We are more realistic than the DUmmies and have no problem with criticizing republicans or conservatives and discussing it in civilized ways.

I'm not so sure about that.

Still, I think the DUmmies need a target that they can focus on, they don't really have that now.  If republicans are in control and the economy improves, the DUmmies will complain that it isn't improving fast enough.

Kind of like gas being expensive at $2/gal. under president Bush and unemployment at 5% was outrageous and indicative of his failures.

I have to agree with you, thundley. As it stands now, the dump is not united in their hatred and are eating their own. Put the GOP back in charge and it will unite the dump like it did during the Bush admin.

Everyone makes a good point here.

Having Obama in the White House has really fractured DU. I think even by 2016 with a Republican, the fracture could remain.

The best thing about this is (are?) the people whose eyes will be opened & who will begin to move away, bit by bit. This happened at DK (I've lost track of how many) years ago, but 0bamacare had a lot to do with it. Not lately, but as of Fall 2012, DK hadn't really recovered & was unrecognizable to anyone who had followed it back in the early days.

But I couldn't find it.
So now I will have to go back and choose between the lesser of 3 evils.

No.  Modern America is a wellspring of indoctrinated fools who are for all intents and purposes the "Everflowing bowl" of Celtic myth to a place like DU.  As fast as they are driven away or banned, more will pour in.

^I agree with that.  If/when, the GOP comes back into the drivers seat, the DU will unite and their derangement will manifest itself into high anxiety.  That will produce a lot more crazy entertainment.

I tend to think so too, Dori. After all, DU was created early in the Bush admin, I think circa 2001. Until obumbles got in office, they were united in their hatred. All bets are off if we get a dem in office after obumbles shuffles back to Chicago or Hawaii.

I especially miss the good bouncy stories. What ever happened to ole Bouncy Ball? I'm sure it was documented here or at CU and I must have missed it. Those were the good old days! I especially liked "All your senate are belong to us".
