Oh my.

I knew it I knew it I knew it.

When I read this story in this morning's Omaha World-Herald, I knew the big guy'd been there, on the scene.

Actress Patty Duke leaves Joslyn event early, seeks medical care for stomach pain

Oscar-winning actress Patty Duke left an Omaha event early Friday night to seek medical attention for stomach pain, the organizer said.

Duke, 67, has dealt with stomach problems for an extended period of time, said Bruce Crawford, who organized a screening of “The Miracle Worker’’ at Joslyn Art Museum.

An Omaha doctor has been running tests on Duke recently, he added.

The doctor asked the actress to come in Friday night for more tests after Duke reported pain. She was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center by private vehicle, Crawford said.

Patty was obviously in distress when she spoke to the crowd before the film started. She tried very hard to continue.

As she was going to the autograph line from the the theater, someone mentioned the Rembrant in view behind her and pointed to it. So I told her the story of how it was in storage etc. She thought the story was fascinating: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10024907270

Here is a photo of her talking to fans in the autograph line before she left. To her left is artist Nicilosi that did the commemorative art for the charity event: http://popartgalleries.blogspot.com/

This is, really, a non-news story, but the big guy from Bellevue's obviously wanting to show off.

So, to summarize:

Steve Dawes spoke briefly to Patty Duke, who was immediately rushed to the hospital with stomach distress.

Correlation or causation?

People under 60 are saying, "Patty who?"

She's the biggest celeb the neckbeard has met.

Previous record holder: An extra who played a dead German on one episode of "Combat".

Actually Steve and I both have been to these events in Omaha .Sometimes at the same one. There have been many well known stars there over the years. The last one was "The Great Escape" and  David Mc Callum who played Ashley-Pit in the movie and now plays Ducky on NCIS was there. granted not everyone knows Patty Duke but they do know her son Sean Astin . but that is what happens when you play classic movies for one night. Not everyone knows the stars or the production crew who comes as the guest. because most have died by now. I was at the King Kong Showing years ago and all three of the guest, Ray Harryhausen. Forrest J Ackerman and Ray Bradbury have since passed on.

I would have enjoyed hearing from Ray Harryhausen or Ray Bradbury.

I'm guessing there's a story behind that.

Not much really.

He was on the road doing one of his one-man shows and had a performance in Kansas City. Since I lived closest to KCI, I was "elected" to host him during his stopover.

It was very enjoyable and we got to hear a lot of Hollywood stuff. A real gentleman. And I guess it makes me once removed from Angela Lansbury.
