FYI - Putin speaks fluent German - and Merkel fluent Russian - and did you know

that the Big Dog speaks an acceptable conversational German, and when on the phone with Merkel conducted most of it in German because he wanted to?

even in Mexico we learned a second language, by law.

And since I went to a private jewish school I learned a third. I need to really brush up on Hebrew, but I do the Spanish and English (and American) well, I think. Though will never say I have no accent.

She needs to get some more input before claiming to speak English.

I don't believe linguist is on her resume.

Granted, it's possible there's many primitives on Skins's island who know more than one language, given that it takes some degree of literacy and competence to manipulate a computer.

But the primitives aren't the only ones who voted for the buffoon-in-chief.

There's a vast wasteland of the ignorant, the ill-lettered, the poorly-educated who also voted for this guy, and their numbers are in the millions, not in the single-digit thousands of primitives.

I really doubt most of them know any second language.

It's kind of like when the primitives describe the ignorance of "red-neck southerners," as if the South is composed wholly of white "fundies."  They forget that southern states have significant blocks of 0bamessiah voters, and those are the ones responsible for the low rankings southern states get.

I wouldn't starve in France or Germany. But I'm most fluent in English, 370 Assembler, COBOL, Fortran, HTML and tolerable in PL1...

If a second language is required "by law" in Mexico, then it seems strange that so few people who come to the US can speak passable English…

Knowing a second language is beneficial for personal enrichment, but in reality, it isn't necessary for a person living in the US. English is still the primarily language of international business.  Most European countries are smaller than a US state.  If we could drive through multiple countries with multiple languages within a day then more of us would probably be fluent in a 2nd language

Merkel grew up in East Germany under the occupation of the Russians.
