An expectant mother's use of cannabis during pregnancy can prevent a child from forming certain connections in the brain while growing in the womb, a Sweden-based researcher has revealed.

"Cannabis is particularly powerful to derail how nerve cells form connections, potentially limiting the amount of information the affected brain can process," a statement from Sweden's Karolinska institute said this week.

The Institute's Professor Tibor Harkany was part of a global team of scientists looking into what effects consuming cannabis during pregnancy had on the unborn child.

"An increasing number of children suffer from the consequences of maternal drug exposure during pregnancy, and cannabis is one of the most frequently used substances," the statement read.

My oldest daughter was second in her high school class of 500 plus. She, and her younger sister are in in college with A averages.
Pot during pregnancy did not harm them at all, as far as I can tell.

Attributes? There are people that have convinced themselves that nothing bad can ever come from smoking weed. Yet they have no problem believing tobacco cigarettes are harmful.

Your body does not want smoke in its lungs. It doesn't matter if it's tobacco, marijuana, or a car fire. They are all dangerous to varying degrees.

Can't post the link but, read about a study a while back that showed MJ smoke has the same crap that tobacco smoke has and is just as harmful.

Even if it is "bull" as the DUmmies claim, how hard is it to stop smoking for 9 months just in case. Plenty of women, myself included, had/have horrible morning sickness and manage to get through it without smoking pot. Smoking of any kind can harm your baby, why not just care enough about it to give it the safest growing environment you can for crap sakes?

Don't ever let a DUmmy tell you they're an atheist. They just worship a different god. For some it's a particular ideology or self-defined "right". For others it's this or that personality. For still others it's drugs, pot in particular. Look how they get their noses out of joint if you even question the fallibility of this particular god, and they're quite willing to set science aside and go on faith. They get waaaaaay more upset when you call their faith into question than a Christian would, because we know that the final judgement of our persecuters rests with Someone else.

I cannot imagine smoking pot while pregnant.  It is stunning that the DUmmies would say such a thing is perfectly fine when they're supposedly such health freaks and everything "is for the children."     :hammer:  Goes along with "It's not a baby until it takes its first breath." I guess.   :mad:

Oh so strange this thread.     I notice not one word about the baby when born, goes home to breath 24/7 pot smoke, second hand from their family and their friends.

Mothers in one ghetto I visited put PGA into babys bottles and filled the bottle with Kool Aid.  Gastly, kids would sleep so Mommy could party, and still breath in the second hand smoke from the pot fumes.

Have seen Mothers breastfeeding their infants while they smoked pot and drank a couple Pounders.

Oh Yah there are some monsters out there.    Horrid as it is some fathers would shot gun    -------nothing to do with guns---the infants to keep them quiet.

Then there are men that will lock their babys in the car and spend 3+ hours in a strip joint.

The poor we say, Hardley,    A Tentured Professor at the UNH was caught locking his infant in his car and going 2 block away to drink some evil concoxion from a coffee shop.

Some children survive their upbringing to become good solid citizens despite their parents or care givers.    Some children raised in the best of familys go on to become seriel killers.

Beats me why so many kids turn out as smart and good as they do.

Yes, some chemicals were in even higher concentrations in MJ smoke.  The thing that struck me was it was measured in 'per cigarette' or 'per gram' and some smokers smoke upwards of 25 grams of tobacco a day.  The same can't be said for MJ smokers.  Even a light smoker would smoke 5-10 grams of tobacco a day and even that would be a lot of MJ to smoke.
