"Settled science", especially the kind that will listen to no opposing views, is nothing more than religion disguised as science. People who are confident in their theories wouldn't be afraid to debate someone who has a different theory. You'd think they'd want to publicly shame the unbeliever to end the debate.
At one time Galileo was arrested for saying the earth revolved around the sun. He was considered a blasphemer and a heretic because "settled science" said the sun revolved around the earth, that WE were the center of the universe. It gave the church power and authority because they were God's representative here, thus, they were responsible for telling the people how to live their lives. Parishioners gained a sense of importance because obedience to the church equaled salvation.
It's the same with these (and I use the word loosely) scientists and their sycophants. Just like the priests in Galileo's day, these global warming climate change scientists and the left (but I repeat myself) have power and authority because they tell people how to live their lives, to atone for the sins they've committed against the earth. Driving hybrids, recycling milk jugs, reusable bags, changing to dangerous, mercury-filled light bulbs (evidently sending light bulbs filled with dangerous chemicals to landfills or having them break in your garbage can is better for the earth than the ones we used to use) and eating less meat gives the believers a sense of importance. They're doing something, even if that something changes nothing.
Doesn't matter if Algore's prediction of doom and gloom have been proved false. They just change the meme to fit reality rather than question their beliefs.
