Is the Dump blocking IP's?
« on: December 31, 2013, 07:03:51 PM »
Yep, I'm a repeat disruptor.  :-)

The last few times I got the boot, I was able to sign-up again using free email accounts.

I'd complete the registration process, and receive the seal of approval within minutes, if not seconds.

This most recent time, however, I tried to reregister using a free email account, but no approval ever arrived.

Tried a different email account, and again... no approval.

"Hmmm... that's odd". I doubted Skinner was rejecting certain email domains since a number of his minions are indigent, and can't scrape the cash together for a PC and/or and ISP. I've lost count of how many Primitives are claiming poverty and post from the library or public WiFi.

Anyhow, I signed up for yet another email account, but this time I routed the DU sign-up process through TOR, and voila!!! I'm good as gold again until my next banning.

I suppose I could have just as easily changed the MAC address on my router and pulled a new IP, but last time I tried that, it was a PITA rebooting.

Ohhh, and by the way lurking Dummies... greetings from the Netherlands (or was it Spain, the Ukraine, Iceland? I forget which now ).

Yes, they will do an IP ban.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

Yeah but they don't last long. Maybe a week or just a few days. They'll keep track and some DUmp Moderator, yeah despite what Skinner says, they still have the Moderator class at the DUng Heap, they just changed their titles to Host and MIRT, the Moderator class will search IPs and ban somebody if they recognize an IP that somebody has used for disruption, usually it's Lord Marblehead that performs this task but sometimes it's one of the old Mod types like NYC Skippy or cbayer.

Yes, they will do an IP ban.

Thanks for the confirmation.

I suspected as much.

I know in the past in the original ATA forum, and Meta, that others have made inquiries and/or suggestions, that the site use IP blocking to bar repeat offenders, but Skinny never made it quite clear or agreed, that the practice was in effect.

Tombstoned . . . . welcome aboard. You do know several of the DUmmies stalk us on this board. You can't just come here and announce to the world you disrupt over there in the swamp. A couple of DUmmies may be able to rub their few brain cells together and they could get lucky, pin point you and quash your bid to mole.

Next time you register over there, try and keep it to yourself. Works better that way.

I had problems establishing my most recent mole account so I used my community college email address to sign up and a computer in the library.
