The only thing I can think of when a flash mob comes in is to duck and cover. Nothing you can do even if you are armed, just get low and ride out the storm.  If one has a cell phone that takes pictures, take as many as you can,

These place that got hit were clothing stores.  They need anti theft protection.  Some sort of system they could trigger that would send a deluge of brightly colored dye cascading over the exits.  Sure the clothes may be ruined, but they were lost anyway, and the criminals would be marked.
