Nearly all the out of town gas guys are getting a monthly per diem for living expenses..one reason the rent in out area went sky high. Most have told me they are getting 1000-1600 per month for rent above their pay.
Okay, and if true, still doesn't come anywhere close to covering rent or hotel.
I've done temp assignment for my company in Iowa and got $120/day, and that BARELY covered me. I can't imagine what it would be like in a boom town where even a "man camp" goes for nearly $100/day.
