Jesus confuses the primitives................again

Is this in the Bible ?

Jesus said to help the poor and sick, right?

But, did he say "If someone comes up with a plan to help the poor and sick, turn against it" ?

Did he say "If you are tired of helping people who are hungry, no problem, just cut them off" ?

Seriously, does anyone here know of ANY kind, loving, and caring rationale to be against Healthcare and
Food Stamps ??

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023703192

Jesus just said to help the poor and sick. He didn't say how to go about carrying out that commandment.

But you idiots insist that those who don't want to help the poor and sick thru the gov't aren't acting like Christians.

So here's your question, primitives.

Where does Jesus say it's the responsibility of gov't to care for the poor and sick?

Jesus had every opportunity to condemn the Roman gov't for not taking care of the poor and sick. If he had done so, it would have established that the gov't NOT helping the poor and sick was morally wrong. But he doesn't condemn the Roman gov't, nor does he insinuate it's the responsibility of the gov't. He places the responsibility upon individuals.

It would be nice if you idiots could think, or you had the courage to answer this, but no one on the island will even point this out to you.

If you ever happen upon a bad accident, just take a gander at who tries to help. It's usually the ones that vote for their own best interest that get in the way looking and not doing any thing.

But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

Like everything else, they have no understanding at all of what Jesus taught.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

The DUmmies wouldn't like the teachings of Christ

2 Thessalonians

1:1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

14 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.

Jesus says to help the poor, he doesn't say to give foolishly to scams like Obamacare.  You don't have to give money only to help the poor.

Seems these assholes only want to use Jesus' words when it suits them but they spit on him with everything else

At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah's home and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. (NIV, Luke 1:39-44)

Now the word of the LORD came to me saying, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations." (NAS, Jeremiah 1:4-5)

I will say to God: ... "Your hands shaped me and made me. Will you now turn and destroy me? Remember that you molded me like clay. Will you now turn me to dust again? (NIV, Job 10:2, 8-9)

10. Did he tell the Roman government to do those things?

Christian conservatives will tell you that Jesus did not say, "Hey, Romans, take money from these folks here and give it to poor people."

Likewise, Jesus did not ask the Romans to heal the sick, clothe the naked, etc. He asked individual people to do those things on their own. He did not ask that government take money from people in order to do those things, nor did he ever suggest it was government's job to do any of those things.

I do not expect my government to be run on some sort of religious principle. Social programs have a number of humanitarian and practical justifications, but I don't want YOUR Jesus running the government any more than I want THEIR Jesus running the government.

HOW ABOUT WE ALL QUIT ASKING JESUS FOR ADVICE ON RUNNING GOVERNMENT.  Okay?

Pretty close. Glad someone reads over here and will at least try to point out a thing or two.

BTW primitives, jberryhill is NOT me, I have no idea who s/he is, and I don't have a presence on your island, so leave this person alone.

Oh, and get this through your stupid heads, liberals: No conservative objects to taking care of the poor and sick, we just don't view gov't as being the best vehicle through which to do it. Are you even capable of understanding that?

The Bible never asked for more than 10%.

Lemme know when you assholes really feel like getting scriptural.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

Jesus admonished his disciples to do all that he did, including healing the sick, not just helping them. If they had the faith as small as a mustard seed they could move mountains. But all they have is cynicism and hypocrisy.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

Oops.  :lmao:

I don't mind helping those down and out. Not one bit.
I'll gladly help someone up, brush them off and do what's needed.
I have a problem, when they lay back down, and demand I carry them.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

Without even getting into the whole roman government argument I would simply ask the liberal who said this to compare today's sick and hungry(as defined by liberals who throw those words around) to those in Jesus' time. Not to put words in my Savior mouth but would he honestly walk thru the home of your average food stamp recipient and call them the hungry of old? Would he walk into begging stewies deceased father's home and see any similarity between that sad sack and a leper who was shamed and ostracized in His day? I think there is actually a GREATER argument for Christian aid in the sense it was intended in places like India, Africa, etc where the quality of life is just mind blowingly abysmal. but let's not mince words dummies when you talk of this you are referring to 300 pound welfare queens and their obese chattel as being hungry, or lazy stew as being sick and not of emancipated children in the sub Sahara being lorded over by buzzards waiting for them to die from starvation.  Liberals have redefined what is destitute and that really is where this issue needs to come home too. What is necessity and what is destitute. So tired of them distorting the parameters of this discussion.

12. Interesting...so the thought is that as long as they follow the help the poor/sick/hungry on an individual basis, then they are "covered" ? Seems you could extrapolate and say I am helping on an individual basis and thru my taxes, I am also helping many many more people in need - so I am super good. Not really trying to interject religion vs government here at all. Just trying to understand how if you might be for charity on a small level you could be so vehemently against helping people on a grander scale. And, just because they are claiming that Jesus didn't say support food stamp legislation doesn't strike me as enough rationale.

Wow! You are as simpleminded as it gets.

"Covered?" You act like this is some kind of game where we all have to touch base in order to be safe.

Personally, my research has caused me to conclude that we as individuals can help more people than can the gov't. Why should I want to help others in a way that is more wasteful and less helpful? The whole point is to help the most you can in the most time effective and money efficient way possible. And I reject that helping people via gov't is doing things on a grander scale than individually.

Oh goodness, now you're talking as though you have the capacity to rationalize properly. Take it somewhere else.

The fundies do.

Not me.  If you're going to address this, you better be able to address it in the manner in which I present it to you, son. This "they believe" stuff doesn't work with me. I'm too far ahead of you.

The primitives only hold fast to one verse in the Bible, and that is Proverbs 6:10.

Liberal thinking is a two-legged stool and magical thinking is one of the legs, the other is a combination of self-loating and misanthropy.  To understand it, you would have to be able to sit on that stool while juggling two elephants, an anvil and a fragmentation grenade, sans pin.
