According to the research, which was conducted by U.K. mattress company Ergoflex, single men between the ages of 18 and 55 only change their bed sheets an average of four times…per year!

Furthermore, the average single guy owns just one set of sheets. Women, on the other hand, typically own three sets and change their linens every two-and-a-half weeks.

Of the more than 2,000 people interviewed by the company, couples were the cleanest demo, washing their sheets about every two weeks.

When I was single, I did laundry weekly, Saturday mornings. 

I had three sets of sheets.  Any given day there was a set on the bed, a set in the closet, and a set in the laundry.

Now that I'm married, we have several sets and they get changed a bit more irregularly, dependent upon various factors; for example, the frequency and duration of horizontal calisthenics...

I thought I was pretty good about laundering my bed linens when I was single (I routinely changed them out every 2-4 weeks; far more frequently than this survey suggests).

When I got married though; one of the first things my new bride did was to get rid of the bedding. Out in the dumpster. Deemed "unsalvageable". :fuelfire:

I am the domestic engineer at home since retirement and I may have a touch of OCD when it comes to cleanliness.  I maintain three sets of sheets in rotation all with at least 600 thd  count.   Once a week is fine any more and I would cringe. I am not a big fan of warm sperm baths either (pubic hot tubs).

When in college I use to use a linen service and only had two sets but they were twins.  The great thing about my service was I could get five shirts starched and pressed on hangers for a buck.  Fold laundry was twenty five cents a pound which was great since you could just open the package it came back in and put it away (ditto packing for vacay). Pants were also five on a hanger pressed for a buck.  Try and find a deal like that today.  I probably shelled out less than if I went to a laundry mat and I am terrible at ironing.

As a side note the silver piled up in the sink until it was thrown away but it took forever to go through sets of cheap flat ware since we mostly ate out.  Thus the sink served as a great cock roach trap. And the best ever found was to boil a hot dog on the stove and let them drown in that water left over it seemed to be a natural lure for them. Yes it use to drive me crazy but I refused to clean up after the slobs I lived with.

It's plausible.  I had a roommate that stuck to about that schedule. (I stayed out of that room unless absolutely necessary, needless to say. :puke: )
