Some see Syria as edge for Obama in fiscal showdown

Quote
U.S. military action in Syria could give the White House an advantage in the looming fiscal showdown with congressional Republicans, according to defense and budget experts.

They said the Syria crisis could boost calls by President Obama and defense hawks to reverse the automatic spending cuts to the Pentagon known as sequestration.

Interesting that the potential attack on Syria comes around the time of the fiscal standoff.

Pelosi and Co. held Bush hostage over the Iraq war funding. Same thing happened in the Vietnam pull-out.

Or...

Obama gets his dick caught in the car door: it's painful and he doesn't really want to have to explain how it happened.

Then along with his unilateral, extra-legislative actions he gets to enter into a process with a hostile congress that realizes the only way to shut this ****er down is to deprive him of funding and he's exhausted so much political capital even his allies can't figure out a reason to stand with him.

That's my dream anyway.

That's a pretty good dream.

I don't see it really being that much of an edge, really the last thing he wants is to put money into defense programs which he was counting on killing and then using the dough for more Leftist unicorn farts.  He's not in a particularly strong position to say "We need 30 billion more for defense thanks to my ineptitude and big mouth, so give me 30 billion more for that and another 30 billion for social programs that I really want, too."
