Vacation to Antigua
« on: July 22, 2013, 04:33:59 PM »
I retired the end of May this year. We kept trying to plan a trip...1st it was to Australia...that was out...it was more than we could afford...darn it...(kids keep needing the extra money we had saved for the trip)
Then my hubby got the idea of taking a military hop to the Azores....Flights there are not very often and slim chances of getting a seat much less two....
So I was cruising the MAC web sites this morning and out of Patrick AFB they have a weekly flight to Antigua and usually 2 dozen empty seats...We checked hotels.com, book a room for 9 days and Monday morning we should be in the air.
Hubby says he has to go shopping for bright colored Hawaiian style shirts....I told him I would go shopping with him. He said WHY?????

If your kids are adults you do them no favors by subsidizing them.

After 18 YO, they should stand on their own.  Being a crutch is infantilizing them.

You should go on your original plan.

Thanks Eupher...We never had the time to wait before either, but now that we are both retired and I found this one, it was a no brainer.

I find my wife very helpful in selecting Hi..wy..an shirts.  If she gags, I know I've got the right one.

No I didn't do any snorkeling. But I heard that if I did it would be wonderful.

I can not swim, my grand kids tease me saying Grandma swims like a rock.....

But in the salt water down there I learned to float and swim on my back. I even attempted to dog paddle one day.

I was like a kid with a new toy.

This flight leaves every Monday and comes back every Wednesday....So you have a very short trip or a 9 day trip...

The food was the biggest expense during the trip. We rode the bus and occasionally took a taxi.

They drive on the other side of the road just like in England, they once belonged to England and they speak English there.
