Fri May 31, 2013, 09:17 PM Taverner (53,433 posts) I have gotta control my drinkingThis is day two without alcohol. Sleeping is almost impossible, and I am tormented with nervous energy. The best way to control your drinking is to quit completely for some time - get your body used to no alcohol See, I was drinking about 1/4 of a bottle of scotch a night Not a ton, but enough to get physically dependent From what I've read I should detox for at least as long as I have been drinking, if not more That's about 4 years I can do it 0

You can do it.Please try to identify triggers that disrupt you, for some it's family tension, for others, well who knows. Allow yourself to eat something instead. Be mindful that any amount is too much. I could go on, I don't want to preach, just do what your body and soul are telling you to do and knock it off.

It's a lot of things: work situation (been bad since 2010)...Not to mention that having kids, even 10 years later, terrifies the shit out of me I love them and that's why I feel this way And, the chief trigger - - boredom When I am involved in something my mind is off of it I never want a drink at the gym, or while I'm driving, or while I'm working I could get over the cravings - that's just a mind game It's the withdrawals that are killing me
Just go to AA.
I never want a drink at the gym
"The nation that couldn’t be conquered by foreign enemies has been conquered by its elected officials" odawg Free Republic in reference to the GOP Elites who are no difference than the Democrats
Umm, if you're an alcoholic I don't think you're supposed to just quit on your own, we know someone who tried that and he had seizures and actually almost died, he was in ICU for a few days.

I've heard of that too, infact they did die. The body converts alcohol into sugar in your system. Maybe if he just ate 10 candy bars at night, he wouldn't feel the withdrawl so much.
I think that is why everyone is behind his try at quitting.

Does anybody have Taverner in their deadpool?
