Drip coming from downstairs apartment air conditioner.

Okay. I live in an apartment on the third floor. When the neighbor downstairs turns on his air conditioner I get a loud drip I can hear in my air vent - sounds like it's dripping onto metal. There is no water anywhere, it's in the wall. So, of course, I tell the manager and he thinks I'm imagining it. He said he had the A/C guy look at it and they don't know what it is. They haven't heard the drip even though he told me he turned on the downstairs neighbor's AC and then came up and listened for a drip. I told him I am going to text him next time I hear the drip.

Do any of you know how this is possible? Is the manager just treating me like a dumb blonde and not taking me seriously? It wakes me up when it comes on at night. It is driving me mad. I don't know what to do because I don't think the manager believes me or he just can't be bothered really looking into it.

I also sometimes think he wants me to move because it's a rent controlled apartment.

<<<can't help; drips don't bother.  Neither do alarms or explosions, for that matter.....

1. It's condensation. When the a/c runs overly long without a chance to evaporate, or it's extra humid out, or if the filter needs cleaned, excess condensation can occur.

If a real a/c looked and didn't know what it was, well, I wouldn't pay him.

4. that's just it....

he told me an A/C guy looked at it. I don't know if I even believe him. He's one of those apartment managers who really doesn't want to be bothered by tenants. It's driving me crazy.... it's hot in los angeles so it happens a lot.

2. Is it a window unit AC or one for the entire apartment?

Also is your vent in the floor, ceiling or wall?

If you want evidence then use your cellphone (if you have one) to record the sound of the dripping, most phones have an audio recording mode for taking voice notes.

3. it's central air in the entire apartment. I can try and record it. He still won't believe me I fear. The vents are on the wall.

5. can you put something in through a vent to absorb the dripping and quiet it?

<<<confused; really don't know.

Wouldn't the humming of the air conditioner mute, or totally obscure, the minor sound of a drip?

Of course he's treating you like a dumb bleached blonde, with good reason.
You're a DUmpmonkey. You're a dumb bleached blonde.
That's why he's a manager and you're a stupid tenant.

Yet she can afford text messaging and the internet.

I'm sure the state pays plenty of money for her to live there. Property owners want to keep people like her, the check is always in the mail!
