All the indicators that we were hearing right up to the night of the election is that he was winning.
Sure he could have been stronger, but even if he had been who would have known?
Can't blame an unfriendly press. Romney knew up front the MSM would not give him a fair shake, so he was 100% responsible for getting his own message out. He had lots of money and lots of opportunity to do it.
He could have bought 30 minute blocks of time on every network (even MSNBC), and purchased full-page ads in the Sunday paper of every city with more than 250,000 people, every week from the Republican Convention until November. Hell, for what he spent, he could have delivered a ham to every household in America, with a little card that said "Obamacare? No, RomneyHam!"
Because he had the money and the opportunity, I believe he made the sales pitch he wanted:
"Obama wants to drive America over a cliff at 100 miles an hour. Vote for me and we'll drive off that cliff at 75 mph. Yee-haw!"
