Hmmm.  Some of those people are acting like folks in other parts of the country.  You know, the places where they don't depend on the government to care for them.

Be not fooled. They are acting, like you stated.

True, so true.  Why depend on taxes to pay for things we should be doing ourselves.

We cannot pave the roads or keep our bridges in good shape, we need ambulance, fire and police help, but the extras we need to do ourself.

You want a playground for the kids, well get off your butt and go out and mow one yourself.

The church that boarded up abandoned homes, would have been cheaper to get someone with a contracting company to volunteer to come in and knock the darn things down and clear the lots.
People from miles around would come to salvage the lumber, bricks and what ever else there was that somehow a profit could be made.

Much is made of taxing people that will never use a service, no kids in school, why be taxed to build a sports field for kids that is used only once a month for some Else's kids. I have been on both  sides of this debate and find if parents want their kids to play sports they need to find a way themselves to supply conditions where they can use a field, raise money to buy uniforms and pay the coach a living wage.

Why take away from the kids the new text books or computers they need to buy the cheerleaders uniforms ? If a small town wants to build a band stand then the citizens should build it and care for it.

Taxes are and have been a riot of controversy for 1000 years.

I have no problem with my taxes except being a Donner town and $1500 every 6 months goes to pay for the schools somewhere up state to build swimming pools and build sports areas .-------This is the reason the Lotto was voted in, the procedes were to go to the schools but for some reason the money never gets there for building repairs, computers or up to date text books.  For some reason the Math teacher makes far less then the school coach in basketball.

Upside down world, a science teacher that is a good teacher should be making more money then a person that teaches kids to play a game of any kind.    What good does a student who is a Natural at sports but cannot pass a class in History, Math or even English their mother tongue  do for them as an adult ????

Yeah I know, ---Rant ended for now.

Maybe D.I.Y. will become a trend in other places too.  Not depending on the Government is good.  It's the way it should be.

But watch the lawyers and sue happy folks come out and ruin it

That's outstanding!  A little feeling of ownership goes a long way toward keeping things in shape.  I'll bet if they see someone damaging their park or know the person who is doing it they will step up to stop it or it will get reported a whole lot faster.

Good for those folks!

Do it yourself.......so it leaves the democrats more money to buy votes.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin
