I got thrown out of the fair grounds as a teenager. The old toss a nickel in the glass plate game and win some cheap prize or some carnival glass. Well, an old carny told me how to beat the game and I was giving every girl there a prize....cost me about 20 cent per prize....probably about what the fair people had in the prize but they weren't making money off of me.

You put 2 nickels together and toss them in the plate....the top nickel pops out but the nickel on the bottom stays in.....works even better if you put a little spit between the nickels.....just do it when they ain't looking. They really hate getting beat at their own game.

I swear I just told this story someplace else. I 'won' shoot out the star by cutting the paper over the star by firing back and forth in a line up by the clip, dropping most of the paper onto the floor. I didn't get tossed out, but I didn't win either.

My favorite game at the amusement park was shooting at those little ducks with Winchester Model 62s and .22 short gallery rounds.

I wonder if there is such a thing anymore.

There used to also be .22 BB Caps and .22 CB Caps for popping birds and vermin. Haven't seen those in many years.

Come fall the Carney workers take Temp Jobs, come spring they are on their way south.   Interesting and spooky people, we had a  few come to work and for a short time and they definitely did not like manual labor.

Very closed society, and secretive about their summer jobs moving from town to town.
