We really have no idea what happened yet, but I will comment on your once again total ignorance of my state.    Watertown, much like most of Central to Eastern MA is predominantly Irish.    The Irish here are cops, firemen and teachers.    We love cops.   Politicians need the support of law enforcement unions to be legitimate players in local, state and federal races.

Don't confuse the misguided pampered OWS misfits who come to MA from all over the country/world to attend college as folks from Boston.  Mmmkay?

I don't know about the OWS freakshow. If they're from out-of-state they presumably don't vote.
I do know that Massachusetts is the shithole state that gave us the Kennedys.
It reelected a homosexual congressman who had a homo prostitution ring operating in his home.
It gave the jug-eared muslim over sixty percent of its vote in 2012, and continues to support his socialist regime.

Same here, GB. I read somewhere they had like what... 9000 cops in a 12 block area? And they still couldn't find him after a number of hours?

There are non union and union fire departments that will not show up to your domicile if you haven't paid for the service. It happens a few years back when the news broke about a house fire that didn't get put out because the homeowner didn't make his payment. The FD sat on their collective asses and watched the thing burn to the ground while Mr. Homeowner tried to use the garden hose to douse the flames.
