I'm pretty confident that if they were to decide to do this thing as described in the article it could be done and it would be easier then some might think. After all the Israelis seem to be able to penetrate Syrian air defenses at will.

Also, from what little I understand, the technology that allows them to do it (and it's not stealthy aircraft in the conventional sense) was gifted to them from U.S. tech.

Although frankly, if I was in the halls of power, I'd be more interested in seeing to it that the Free Syrian Army have a serious dustup with Hezbollah in Lebanon first.

We don't know who the rebels are. Look at Libya and Egypt.  Those two are going to come back and bite us in the butt some day.

So it looks like the rebels are the ones using chemical weapons, or at least we can't tell, so we should take on the Syrian government?

The Izzies don't exactly operate at will over Syria.  They can penetrate the near-border airspace when they want to, or deeper when they have an overwhelming need, but on their own schedule, not to enforce a no-fly zone 24/7.  It's a stupid idea.

I have a novel idea. Let's get out of these M.E. shithole countries and bring all our troops home. We are never going to change these savages. We have lost too many lives and spent too much money over there. Let them kill each other with bullets, bombs or chemicals. I don't give a shit.

Levin and McCain have lost their friggin minds.
