Another Progressive Talker has reached the end of its lifecycle.

Americom’s 1230 KJFK Reno will cease broadcasting the format on Monday, March 18. In a letter to its listeners, the station states that the format has been operating at a loss but they wished to keep the station on through the past Presidential election.

 It was replaced with an all news station that seems to interview only members of the Heritage Foundation for stories they are following. They dumped Stephanie, Thom, Randi and Mike, but kept the local guy Bill Benica. I had to go into town and had Benica on and there is no more talk about politics with him local or otherwise. All he and a guest talked about was movies. So today our local paper the Tribune has a story about it.

Hmmm. It seems a few poorly managed radio stations couldn't entice enough adds to stay on the air. So in a very capitalist move, the station folded and a new company purchased the channel and started broadcasting.

[DU Logic}and if two stations fold, then ALL stations will fall! So Rush is Doomed! [/DU Logic}

Just imagine if Cable companies went A La Carte on their channels.  BSNBC, CNN, HLN, and the like would be gone in a matter of weeks.

Do I wish and I agree.  They would evaporate very quickly.  I hate the fact that my subscription funds the slimy bastards.

I don't know how they exist now.  I assume they are subsidized by there parent networks.  CNN and HLN by turner and MSNBC by NBC.  And of course Comcast owns a majority in NBC Universal so they probably don't pay much if anything to broadcast them and since they have the majority market share in cable they are in more households at a relatively low cost to Comcast.
