A fellow fictional spirit-guide and I were reading some of the stuff brought over by frank and Freep from the DUmp and it resulted in a discussion concerning the DUmmies' intelligence and why they appear so stupid to normal people.

By the way, Freep and frank, according to the Rove you are both to get bonuses this month for your work concerning the island.

Back to the topic at hand, we never could come to a conclusion in our discussion. Here are the options that we came up with.

I opted for 2 or more, but the more I think about it, mental illness really covers it all since it effects everything else: superiority complex, misconceptions about how the world and people and the economy operate, willful ignorance, etc. Yeah, now I think about it, I should have just chose mental illness. From what I've seen of people closer to me, it's so all encompassing it really accounts for the issues with all of the others. The DUmp is just a gathering place for them all and some of the more serious cases of mental illness.

That's just for the dump-Obama voters in general I see a combination of greed(wanting freebies and not thinking it will effect anyone else or only the 'rich'), stupidity, and shifting morals.

Liberals are creatures of ego. It's why they refer to themselves as "porgressives" because they believe -- nay, they are convinced -- they are enlightened enough to lead the benighted masses into a new era or peace and prosperity. It doesn't matter hoe many times their policies lead to tyranny, to them their "intelligence" makes it progress and progress is new so it must be good because they thought of it with their intelligence.

(Conversely, conservatives conserve the lessons of history, which is why we are constantly saying, "Don't do things that thing progressives do because it always leads to tyranny.")

I said stupid from birth, but it's really that they're arrogant without a reason.  If an athelete is arrogant about their ability, but yet they can do what they brag about being able to do, that's still arrogant but at least they can back it up.  The primitives are arrogant without being able to back it up, which makes their whole lives and viewpoints a giant comedy routine.

I'm not entirely sure - there's a concept in Catholic theology called invincible ignorance, which suggests that a person's formative experiences may make him incapable of moving beyond ignorance...I wonder whether the same is applicable to DUmmies.

That said, I lean more towards wilful stupidity, at least for the uber-DUmmies...arrogance which refuses to accept its fundamental density.

I personally go with "two or more".

Here's how I see it:

A lot of them were indeed born stupid and went down hill with age.
A lot of them have mental illnesses that affects their intelligence.
Almost every single one of them are willfully ignorant.
While I know there are some moles, I think most of the stupidity comes from genuine DUers.
I do think that in their own minds they are smart. Too bad that they've lost their minds.
I don't think anyone, even the Joooos, need to use mind control tricks to make the DUmmies look stupid.
