I rowed over to the island this morning to get some early laughs before I had to leave. The first title that caught my eye was "High school senior comes out as LGBT while accepting award".

He has come out as LGBT? The last I heard the letter soup meant: Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered (or Transexual or something like that).

Does this mean he has come out as all four?

And DU has another teacher. I don't think I've ever heard of Bucky, but it has over 40,000 posts. I noticed on reading it again that Bucky is a teacher that is paid to bitch. Maybe that is one of the things wrong with our educational system these days. Back when I was in school we didn't have any teachers that were paid to bitch. All of our teachers were paid to teach.

That whole school. I bitch about kids today all the time. I'm a teacher, so I'm paid to bitch. But one thing about this next generation is that they don't have the same insecurities and hatreds that made coming out so scary for so many people for generations. We're more accepting of people as people. That gives me hope. Perhaps more hope than the fear for the future I'll feel when I get back our results on the Unit 6 test.

In the first place, I agree with FlippyDoo.  Teachers are paid to TEACH, not BITCH!  Most of them do a piss poor job at TEACHING as well.

I think it's not so much about "understanding, tolerance, insecurities, or understanding" as to the next generation "accepting" homos as "normal".

I think they are just tired of hearing DUmmie BUcky's BItching!
