They weren't adequate.
 
"Let's start addressing the problem," said Heitkamp. "And to me, one of the issues that I think screams out of this is the issue of mental health and the care for the mentally ill in our country, especially the dangerously mentally ill. And so we need to have a broad discussion before we start talking about gun control."

Should be no surprise, but many rural Dems aren't on-board with new gun controls at all. And nothing is getting through Congress without them.
 
Looks like we'll have to look for other ways to deal with the violence instead...

I'll never forget the time George Bush nominated Mukasy for attorney general, and Charles Schumer and Dianne Feinstein immediately said they'd back it, no problem.

That was in a September, 2007, I think, and it was big news.

It wasn't until December of that same year that the primitives finally knew that two of their icons had betrayed them.

Actually, I remember many times as a kid (and I don't know if they do it now) where there was a letter carried by a reenactment of the Pony Express versus one sent by regular US mail to commemorate some event on July 4th.  Both were sent on July 1st along the length of the original Pony Express route endpoints. 

The letter carried by Pony Express arrived prior to July 4th.  The US mail letter did not.

Another one of their problems is the source purity rule.  If it didn't come from a far left commie rag, it didn't happen.  If it's news they don't particularly care for, they answer with a sniff "that's a RW source!  Your concern is duly noted."
