Speaking of Flare guns, these can be as good as any gun in an emergency. They carry the practice shots that send a puff of white smoke into the air or the only in distress flairs that can be seen in the sky for miles around.
A few years ago we had a big debate among us Kayaking if we needed these thing, there had been a few incidents of motor boaters having too much to drink trying to turn us over or just scare the hell out of us.
