No pants subway ride
« on: January 12, 2013, 06:44:51 AM »
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -
People wearing little more than their underwear are expected to ride the NYC subway system on Sunday.

In an attempt to bring some laughter to commuters' lives, the comedy troupe Improv Everywhere/ We Cause Scenes has organized No Pants Subway Ride 2013.

All ages; all types of all walks of life are asked to participate, according to the troupe.

There will be six meeting spots at subway stations across the Big Apple. Last year, approximately 4,000 people took part in the fun- and legal- event.

More than 60 cities are getting in on the joke including Hong Kong and Buenos Aires.

"The goal of the event is not to offend people; it's just to make them smile and laugh!"

In order to participate, the brave are asked to be willing to take their pants off on the subway and be able to keep a straight face.

"If someone asks, say you forgot your pants," according to the troupe's website.

The fun begins at 3 p.m.

"Liberalism is an essentially feminine, submissive world view. Perhaps a better adjective than feminine is infantile. It is the world view of men who do not have the moral toughness, the spiritual strength to stand up and do single combat with life, who cannot adjust to the reality that the world is not a huge, pink-and-blue, padded nursery in which the lions lie down with the lambs and everyone lives happily ever after."

~ Dr. William Pierce

They should go sit on the third rail.
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

I knew they were doing one of these on BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit.  Public transportation in San Francisco) but I expected it there.  I suppose it isn't so surprising that they would do it in New York as well.

What is funny about it? I don't get the humor.

Of course, I don't think any of these sitcoms today are funny at all.

I haven't the foggiest idea.  And, I can't recall the last time I watched a sitcom.

What century are you living in ?    As an old lady I find this most amusing and a why not to those all so people that would love to do this but because of self inflicted social appearance cannot do so but they are jealous of those that do.

Kind of a shame those that that have to uphold a good moral since to the comunity cannot make a break and have as much fun kids do,  Jump into a hot tub, or go along with those that amuse you and get on a train wearing just your boxers ????

You called me a fuddy!

To be honest, I don't see the appeal in traveling on my city's public rail system in my skivvies.

1. It was dang cold that day.
2. Our trains aren't, uh, clean.

And, I don't watch sitcoms because I think the quality of TV has gone downhill dramatically.   :-)

I took the DART to the State Fair.  It was a little better than the bus system here... at least you don't have to deal with traffic jams and speed bumps on a train.

The problem Vesta is just like at the beach the wrong women will be wearing the thong. And worse some of the guys may wear thongs too.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

True that.  But some routes are a little less clean/safe than the one you were on.

I think the last sitcom on TV that I found funny was the first few seasons of Malcolm in the Middle. Haven't seen anything since -- and I've stopped looking!

I am wondering how this is different than any other day on a NY subway?
