Before I came on CC I didn't know what DU even was. In the last few years I've learned a lot about them, like how they can make everything in the known universe political. This is a great example.

Tim Hortons customers pay it forward — for three hours
I heard this on the news this morning, how fun for those Timmy's workers.
One customer started the chain at the Tim Hortons at Beaverhill Boulevard last Friday when they paid for the order of the customer behind them in the drive-thru, reported CBC News. That small act of Christmas cheer set off a chain of 228 customers who kept picking up the tab for the next customer, lasting a total of about three hours.
Manager Troy Thompson said the energy was infectious among staff and customers.
“They were calling out the numbers — ‘We’re at 162’ — and they made a really big deal of it,†he told CBC. “I think that’s what helped keep it going because nobody wanted to be the one who broke that streak.â€
The streak finally ended when one man chose not to pay for the three coffees ordered by the next person. His four coffees had been paid for by the customer ahead of him.

It starts out with a nice story about people paying for other peoples orders at Tims which is something simple enough. However, I think we all know such a streak can't go on forever and someone eventually ended it.
We don't know why the person didn't do what the others had, but there could be any number of reasons from being an ass about it, to not having the cash. And don't let the fact he ordered four coffee's make you think that's not possible as four double doubles would be less then 5$ whereas three extra large cafe mochas would be way over 5$.
I doubt that's the case but no one knows so there is no point in speculating why he didn't keep the chain going... Unless you're a dummie and then it's your time to shine.

1. I know the guy who broke the string ...
... he's a Republican. He thinks he's entitled to free coffee.
Well that started out well.

6. He doesn't want anyone getting dependent on handouts. After he got his.
No one was getting handouts. They all had the money to pay for their own orders to begin with.

3. I'd be more impressed if everyone on line donated $1.00 to a food bank.
A bunch of people buying each other coffee and doughnuts is nice idea. Giving to people who actually need it is a mitzvah!
I don't disagree. Donating to a food bank would be good and it'd be nice to think some of those people will. Still a nice story is a good thing either way.
To be fair Tims regularly has things you can donate to at the time of your order.

7. No doubt a teabagger broke the chain
He voted for Romney after Ron Paul withdrew but hated having to do it. He went home, got on his computer and told FreeRepublic.com all about the socialist scheme he just broke up.
And the best most typical post yet! Let's not forget this happened near Winnipeg and the person couldn't have voted for anyone in America because...dun dun dah...they're not American!
