Rep. Tim Scott to replace Demint for SC Senate seat
« on: December 17, 2012, 11:19:38 AM »
Nikki Haley has announced that Rep. Tim Scott will take over Sen. Jim Demint's Senate seat.

http://twitchy.com/2012/12/17/gov-haley-to-announce-sen-demints-replacement-at-noon-today/

For those that don't know, Tim Scott is an African American Republican that represents the Beufort, SC area. I wonder how long before the haters come out...

Here's the local news link.

Quote
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Governor Nikki Haley has named Lowcountry House member Tim Scott to succeed U.S. Senator Jim DeMint.

"This is the right U.S. Senator for our state and for our county," said Haley, who was flanked by DeMint and U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham Monday afternoon at the State House.

Prior to being elected to Congress in 2010, Scott served on Charleston County Council for 13 years, including four terms as Chair and in the South Carolina House of Representatives for two years where he was elected Chairman of the Freshman Caucus and House Whip.

Scott will be the state's first black senator.

DeMint announced two weeks ago that he would abandon his seat to run the Heritage Foundation, a conservative Washington think tank.

Scott will fill the seat until 2014, when voters will choose who will fill the remaining two years of DeMint's term.

A female Indian governor appoints a black man to the US senate.  I just love the racism and sexism that exists in the GOP. :sarcasm:

To be honest, I don't know anything about his record, but I question the sanity and intellect of anybody that identifies as a Republican.

I'm so happy. I was worried they were gonna put a RINO in.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Gee. Got bunch of tweets defending Tim Scott. But none of them can tell me why Scott, new SC Senator, would be good for Black people.

He's there to represent SC, NOT just Black people. We can't win for losing. If Haley didn't name him, it would be because he's black.

Can someone tell me why **insert black Democrat here** would be good for black people?

Well, just guessing here, but I'd think that **insert black Democrat here** would make the congressional black caucus a most powerful political voice.

You know, sort of like the unions in Michigan are these days.

In the past, Tim Scott has been very conservative. Time will tell if he remains so........and there are enough evil, racist white voters to replace him if he isn't.

Lindsay Graham on the other hand has enough DUmbass democrats voting for him to remain. We need to get rid of Lindsay Graham.

I'll take the conservative over the RINO.  And I don't give a damn what color they are.

The district that voted him in is almost 90% white.  Damned Tea Party racists.
