But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

Actually, I agree with the blogger. I think the photo's a fake in that the house does NOT belong to an HOA. It's too damned old.

And Rule #3 in most HOAs cover what color(s) you can paint your house. To fight back against some dipshit rule about flying a flag and then to violate a slightly different rule by painting the house different colors than what's authorized doesn't make sense.

I read it all and agree but I thought it looked so much like something my daddy would have done.....I posted it anyway.

You didn't tell my daddy, "You can't do that".... :lmao:

Good old American ingenuity..... :lmao: .....in your face DUmmies.

I love this, we had a HOA that up North put down any kind of flag even if it was on ones car. Then they went to the Christmass season, no outside decorations even a Holliday wreath.

What did these Mainers do, they decided to go out end mass and buy every patriotic flag they could find.  Everything from Old Glory to POW flags and flags denoting each of our American services.

They turned these flags into curtains seen from the road.   Holliday time they bought material with the nativiety scene and hung them up to be seen.   Whole houses lit up from inside with lights and candles.

Hell of a mess insued. the HOA went nuts, there was nothing in the by laws about  what a home owner could have inside  their homes.

Maine Yankees don't take to being told what they can do inside their own homes, what can be seen from the outside as long as it is not illegal or goes against standards for society.

One does not mess with these Damn Maine Yankees when it comes to Country or religion.

I think in prior rulings against the HOA's, they can't forbid you from flying a flag, butm they can tell you how to fly it as long as it doesn't violate the flag code(i.e can't fly it at night unless its lit, has to come down at dusk, what type of pole can be used, etc).

Not just HOA's,   The American Legion came to dads door one day about a flag pole he erected outside and demanded him to either take the flag down at night or have it lit up.  Out of the blue this came and had someone in the Legion just mentioned this dad would have complied.  As it was this hostile attitude got dads Goat.

So as the next door neighbor who he had known all his life was the one instigating all this he did indeed have the flag lit up at night with the lights also going into the neighbors bedroom window.

What fun a neighborhood fight between two WW2 old duffers.  This got a bit out of control for a while the neighbor had my Mother served with a cease and disest for mowing her yard 3-4 inches onto his property.

Dad began to make plans for a statue of a naked Barbera Bush with just her pearls and the butt end facing his front door.  I cannot imagine what the Legion meetings were for every one for a year or so.

Never know when the old folks go on a rampage, but I believe the last few years of Dads life were the most interesting for him in how to out Witt his boyhood friend.
