WillyT (41,524 posts) Anybody Want To Predict How Many More Of These We Go Through Before Climate Change Becomes... Front And Center ??? Katrina... Irene... Sandy... How long deniers... how long ???
Junkdrawer (24,999 posts) Or we could continue to ignore ALL the warnings and pump even more carbon into the atmosphere... If you ignore it, its goes away. Right?
NAO (3,293 posts) Al Gore said New York would be under water and the pictures from Sandy are reminiscent of images from "Inconvenient Truth".
tarheelsunc (805 posts) 2. Too bad most people laughed at him and called him crazyHe knew what was coming and tried to warn us, but noooo. Global warming and climate change are so foolish. These weather events are much more likely to be signs from God that gays and abortions are baaaaad, right?
flamingdem (19,511 posts) 3. Sandy is the catalyst to bring attention back to Climate ChangeWe must act on that after Obama is reelected!
Robbins (1,905 posts) 5. WellWhen people claim Climate change is a hoax now we have Sandy to say no It's very real.I am just praying the causalities aren't too high.

Are we putting more carbon in the air then we were in the 1970s?
HopeHoops (44,855 posts) We are so ****ed. This storm is beyond anything we've dealt with before. I think we'll ride it out okay, but it should serve as notice that climate change is not a myth. You've got to be ****ing stupid to think that it isn't real. I mean REALLY ****ing stupid. If these conditions we're in right now ever existed before, it was hundreds of thousands of years before now. Republicans are uneducated morons.
snooper2 (14,485 posts) 2. not reallyThere have been a number of really bad disasters in the last 100 years.... No need to hyperbole one storm because some idiots don't believe science.
maxsolomon (11,351 posts) 3. The reality is very complicatedThere is no way to link any 1 weather event to Climate Change. Not this hurricane, not this summer's unprecedented drought. The generality of the effect makes the denial industry, which is run by very smart people, possible. They are smart, but only in forming arguments to fit an agenda of greed. The teapublicans, whose biases are confirmed by the denial industry, are indeed idiots.
Possibly, population has gone up since then, more people breathing in and out will put more carbon in the air.
The plants.....my GOD THE PLANTS!!!!!11111!!!!Wait...photosynthesis? What's that?

I'm not understanding the use of past tense.
Hey, DUmmies! Look up the 1900 Galveston storm, the Labor Day storm of 1935, and Hurricane Carla in 1961. You'll think the frickin' climate has changed for the better.
Not to mention some big hurricane back in the 1780's that sank a bunch of french and british ships up on the US northeastern coast. Then during the british setting fire to DC in the war of 1812 it got washed out by a hurricane. It's called weather dummies. Ain't the first time these storms have hit and won't be the last.
The Spanish Armada was demolished by a storm back in the 16th century. This was no surprise, since it happened before fuel economy standards were imposed on American automakers.
