Citizenship question ordered off voter form
Judge says imposing inquiry is 'burden,' would lead to 'confusion'
By Chad Livengood
Detroit News Lansing Bureau
Detroit — A federal judge late Friday ordered Secretary of State Ruth Johnson to remove a U.S. citizenship question from ballot applications for the Nov. 6 election, citing inconsistent enforcement and potential "confusion" at the polls.
"It really is a burden on the right to vote in terms of slowing things down, in terms of confusion," U.S. District Court Paul Borman said in ruling from the bench after a six-hour hearing.
Johnson, a Republican, said she was disappointed by the judge's ruling. She questioned why she was hauled into court Friday and defended the citizenship question as a tool to root out noncitizens on the voter rolls.

The article fails to mention that SoS Ruth Johnson is a ****ing Teabagger.
Ruth Johnson is what happens when we fail to GOTV!
http://www.democraticunderground.com/1014257758If you're that damned confused over the simple yes or no checkbox regarding your citizenship, how do you make it out of bed and find the polling place?

Of course the DUmbasses lap it up.

1. Since she's a teabagger could there be a chance she'll ignore the judge's ruling?
All in the name of teahadist-style "freedom", of course.

You already register to vote...and then have to provide picture ID..and then still have to check off a stupid "citizenship" box on the ballot application.. Don't the good volunteers who work the polls have enough to do, with the damn ID swiping and name matching to have to answer for a stupid-ass citizenship box on the form.....
I remember the lines to vote in 2008..just what we need..crap like that ...
Because it takes soooooo long to lift your pencil and check that box, right? Well maybe for a Dimocrat.

3. We may see Republican Thugs at the polls this year.
We may also see them end up in the hospital.
You're such a scary E-Thug.

4. Now, that would
please me no end and put a huge grin on my face.
It would please me to no end for a Lefty, any Lefty, to raise his Cheeto-stained hand to me.

5. That violence at the polls may 'please you'
I'd hope that such sentiment is not shared by others. Perhaps we can agree to leave brutality out of voting.
Troll alert!

7. We should be prepared for it. If a Right Wing asshole gets beaten up it would be a Freeper Party.

8. Me too. I'd like to see them made an example of in the media too.
Same goes for cops.
Florida 2000, the only road leading to a polling place and the local cops set up a sobriety checkpoint to hassle black people going to vote. They would search the car and everyone inside looking for drugs.
Don't know what bringing that tired old myth up again has to do with checking a box confirming citizenship, but whatever.
According to the article, out of a sample 56,000 driver's licenses and state-issued identification cards for noncitizens they found 963 non-citizens registered and at least 54 who had actually voted thus far. So much for "Voter fraud is a myth!"

Oh, and look who brought suit:
