Here is one of my main bitches about hearing people and telephones.
A telephone rings, and even if a hearing person's doing something else, he drops that and rushes to answer the telephone.
No matter what he's doing, he stops that, just to answer the damned telephone.
A telephone is meant to be a "convenience," not an interruption.
I swear, years ago, I saw a woman almost drop an infant into a pot of boiling water, because she was holding it, and then the telephone rang.
Like a bunch of Pavlov's dogs, hearing people seem to be with telephones.
If one's busy and the telephone rings, screw the telephone. The odds are pretty good it's a nuisance call anyway, interrupting something more important that you're doing at the time. Let the ****ing telephone ring.
