The Associated Press reports the two-minute spot will air "in New Hampshire, Virginia, Florida, Ohio, Iowa, Nevada and Colorado. Campaign aides said voters in those states would see it frequently."

But, as NBC's Chuck Todd notes, the ad will not be airing in the battleground state of North Carolina. (It also won't be airing in Wisconsin.)

Some Republicans see this as a clear sign Obama is giving up on North Carolina.

"Interesting development considering the campaign has been pledging for months they are committed to the Tar Heel State," says a Republican strategist. "Political realities appear to be exerting themselves in North Carolina weeks after the Democratic convention."

McIntyre is running commercials saying how "independent" he is, touting that he was against NAFTA.

He's also running ads about how evil his opponent is for "outsourcing jobs to China"
