Stung by a Scorpion, Then by a Hospital. This Could Happen to You.Written by Gary North on September 7, 2012An Arizona woman was stung by a scoprion. She went to the hospital. It gave her two shots. Then it charged her $39,652. Per shot. In Mexico, the same shot costs $100. Then it charged her extra fees for the visit. Total bill: over $83,000. Conclusion: government-regulated health care is not working for patients. It is working great for hospitals.
I'm not sure I would trust any vaccination in Mexico as being real.My insurance company usually pays a lot less then what the hosptial trys to bill me and they have to accept the contracted price. I'm glad I have insurance.
Medicare pays X amount, and that is all. The hospital cannot bill you for more.
True.The uninsured really get stuck.
The uninsured have to go to the hospital and negotiate for themselves. I believe all not-for-profit hospitals will negotiate. I'm not sure about the for-profit ones...but I do know that hospitals hate negative advertising if patients go to the media with their complaints. Monopolies in healthcare just don't exist anymore.
