Former Gov. Charlie Crist: Here's why I'm backing Barack Obama

I’ve studied, admired and gotten to know a lot of leaders in my life. Across Florida, in Washington and around the country, I've watched the failure of those who favor extreme rhetoric over sensible compromise, and I've seen how those who never lose sight of solutions sow the greatest successes.

As America prepares to pick our president for the next four years — and as Florida prepares once again to play a decisive role — I'm confident that President Barack Obama is the right leader for our state and the nation. I applaud and share his vision of a future built by a strong and confident middle class in an economy that gives us the opportunity to reap prosperity through hard work and personal responsibility. It is a vision of the future proven right by our history.

We often remind ourselves to learn the lessons of the past, lest we risk repeating its mistakes. Yet nearly as often, our short-term memory fails us. Many have already forgotten how deep and daunting our shared crisis was in the winter of 2009, as President Obama was inaugurated. It was no ordinary challenge, and the president served as the nation's calm through a historically turbulent storm.

He is such a putz, he is working for one of those law firms that you see on the Tee Vee, "Have you been injured in an accident?".
After he lost the primary for the senate he went full moonbat.  :mental:
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Didn't Spray Tan Charlie endorse McCain in 08? Good. Here's to his streak of endorsing losers, may it long continue.

Seriously, who is he supposed to be convincing? Republicans? Yeah, whatever, they won't listen to him after the shit they pulled in the Senate race. Democrats? Preaching to the choir. Independents? Is he still a popular figure in FL politics? Do they even know who the hell he is?

Freep beat me to the punch but I hate to waste a post so I'll put it here.

Edit: It turns out that there two OP's on this subject. Freeper found one in politics 2012, the one I found is in GD.

I knew it

I just knew it. I think they have had this one in their bag of tricks for several months now.

But this also means the end of his future in Republican Party politics.

If this one of the things in their "bag of tricks" they need a bigger bag. Oh and we are also advised of the end of the GOP...again.

Well Crist really isnt as popular anymore

Republicans hate his guts and independents are done with him. The only thing he accomplished in 2010 was splitting the Democrat vote leading to Rubio coasting to an easy win.

I don't applaud Crist in any way.

Wait, Whut!! This isn't going as good as I expected.

Well, at least it sounds like you got some reasons

based on your own experience.

that's cool.

I don't know Crist from Jesus Christ,
and claim no special knowledge or
insight.

I just like it when GOP peeps flock
to Obama in droves.

It's just a thing of beauty in my
Universe.

Even if Crist is an ass.

Aren't they all?

Stunning... and he explains the $ 716 B Medicare savings in clear terms...

that any Florida senior can understand,   thanks JaneyVee...

You mean that $716 B removed from medicare to fund obamacare.

A brilliantly worded solid endorsement backed up by FACTS!..

"He invested in our runways, railways and roads. President Obama knows a reliable infrastructure that helps move people to work and helps businesses move goods to market is a foundation of growth.

And the president invested in our retirement security by strengthening Medicare. The $716 billion in savings his opponents decry today extended the life of the program by nearly a decade and are making sure taxpayer dollars aren't wasted in excessive payments to insurance companies or fraud and abuse. His opponents would end the Medicare guarantee by creating a voucher that would raise seniors' costs by thousands of dollars and bankrupt the program."

Mahalos, JaneyVee!

This post is endorsed by Barak Hussein Obama.

Let us not forget

The bgi rumor is that he will jump ship to the democrats to beat Rick Scott.  I hate the idea, as I remember "Chain Gang Charlie" doing his best to appease the right wing, but considering the alternative is for the Florida democratic party (aka the people who help the GOP more than the GOP could), then I say go for it.  No more weak candidiates like Alex Sink and her husband.

I sincerly hope that this is the best they can do.

Too bad many FL Democrats were short-sighted and now we have a Teabagger sitting in the Senate.

Now I am getting confused, I thought he was a strong rethuglican.

Since the time the stimulus was passed the median wage for America's middle class has shrank by over $4000 a year. Translation; middle class Americans have lost more in wages under 0bama's recovery than under bush's recession. Americans know this first hand and no matter how many times the propaganda arm of the democrat party keep telling us that 0 is an economic super genius and that the recovery is the bestest evah, we have the real results of what socialism always does, increase misery.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

So, one washed up ex GOP-turned moonbat backing Obama is a 'trend' ?

Sorry to break it to you DUmbasses, but I suspect for every one GOP defector we are going to gain three from you. No matter how hard any of you try, this election is going to be based on economic realities, and not social issues. People are unemployed, and those who are still employed have less available capital because of the rising costs associated with just about everything.

And to add insult to injury, it was recently determined that all economic indicators suggest that "Obama's recovery" actually has worse numbers than "Bush's Recession"

Was this the same Charlie Crist who had a 31 point lead on an unknown Marco Rubio in the GOP primary and watched it evaporate? The same Charlie Crist who couldn't compete in the GOP and went independent? That Charlie Crist?

Could it be that Charlie is so desperate for a job that he is seeking an opportunity for a job in a second Obama Administration? Naaaaaaa, Charlie is too principled to try to make an opportunity for himself, would he? :sarcasm:

A RINO shows his true colors. This is why I will not support just anyone with an "R" by their name.
Establishment Republicans are not conservatives.

It took me a long time to support Mitt, and it was one of the gals here at CC who talked some sense into me.
The alternative is the death of this country at the hands of Obama and his ilk.
That a former Republican can throw his vote to a guy who appoints avowed communists to high govt office, is a sure sign that Crist is not to be trusted with power ever again.
