Students still standing their ground at Florida Capitol
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/08/01/students-protest-florida-capitol-zimmerman/2609059/

Quote
You've seen Occupy Wall Street. … Now meet the Dream Defenders — a student organization that has taken up occupation in Florida's Capitol building.

For more than two weeks, the Dream Defenders have staged a sit-in just outside Gov. Rick Scott's office to protest the state's controversial "stand your ground" law, among other concerns.

The group began organizing immediately after the Zimmerman verdict July 13 and orchestrated a march of hundreds of students within an hour.

They are still doing this.  :mental:

Florida’s ‘Dream Defenders’ Still Going Strong
http://www.michronicleonline.com/index.php/rtm-news-reel/13830-florida’s-‘dream-defenders’-still-going-strong-video

Quote
A group of student revolutionaries known as the Dream Defenders has occupied Florida’s Capitol building for the sixteenth day, refusing to leave until Gov. Rick Scott reevaluates the state’s ‘Stand Your Ground’ laws, reports USA Today.

Forming immediately after George Zimmerman was found ‘not guilty’ of murdering Trayvon Martin on July 13, 2013, the group’s numbers have ebbed and flowed, but their presence has remained constant.

They are still at it. It has been nearly a month since George Zimmerman was acquitted.  :mental:

They've made everything out of the case that it wasn't.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

Makes you wonder who is paying them to stay there.

Dream Defenders Livin' Large in State Hotel (Thank you, Taxpayers!)
http://www.sunshinestatenews.com/blog/dream-defenders-livin-large-state-hotel-thank-you-taxpayers

Quote
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement reports that the overtime bill for Sunday security at the Capitol during the 27th day of the Dream Defenders' sleep-in was $7,407.86. That's for the one night.

Let's see now ...

There were 10 Dream Defenders who spent the night. That makes the OT costs approximately $740.79 for every protester.

They cost taxpayers money. It has been nearly a month they took up residence in the Capitol. School is almost in session and they should think about school starting.  :mental:

Dream Defenders end sit-in protest at Capitol in Tallahassee

Quote
TALLAHASSEE --  They weren’t able to convince Gov. Rick Scott to call a special session on the controversial Stand Your Ground self-defense law.

But the student activists known as the Dream Defenders drew national attention to their cause by holding the longest sit-in demonstration in the Florida Capitol in recent memory.

On Thursday, the Miami-based group announced that their record-setting protest was over — for now, at least.

â€œAfter 31 days and 30 nights, we are leaving the Capitol for our next phase,” Dream Defenders Executive Director Phillip Agnew said.

It is finally over. They did this for 31 days.  :mental:

And accomplished...  What???

Trayvon Martin still fully employed as a worm feeder? Check.

George Zimmerman still free, armed and on this side of the grass? Check.

Stand Your Ground law still has no bearing on Zimmerman's degree of incarceration? Check.

They made asses out of themselves. :mental:

They do that on a daily basis.  There was no need to infuse the Governor's office with the intolerable stench of Stupid. Damn; my eyes water just thinking of the work ahead of the poor janitorial staff.

The leader of the "coalition" has a past of PC/Racially biased protesting.

With the same "lynch em" attitude in this case:

I remember something of Martin Anderson. It happened around the time of the Duke Lacrosse Case with Crystal Mangum. Following the acquittal of Henry Dickens, Charles Enfinger, Patrick Garrett, Raymond Hauck, Charles Helms Jr., Henry McFadden Jr., Joseph Walsh II, and Kristin Schmidt, protesters shouted "No justice. No peace!" Same thing with Trayvon Martin. :mental: By the way, the guards were diverse, Black, White, and Asian. Two are Black and one is Asian.

Scott would have let them sit forever. I'm glad that he didn't cave in to those morons. I'm not a fan of all that Scott does, feel that he's catered too much to the teachers her, but at least on ths he didn't raise that white flag of surrender.
