DUmmyland seems to be rejoicing over the prospect of a hurricane disrupting the GOP convention, disregarding the collateral damage to the residents and their homes and businesses.

I can tell you that the pep talk happens regardless of who or what happens to be. I used to give that pep talk once a month to my crews.

I know people get really and I mean this, REALLY cynical, but EMS and disaster folks really do not care who or what their patient is...only to do their best to help them.

And yes, I have actually been involved in care of patients who were VIPs all the way to the drags of society.

Oh and I am as cynical as they come, by the way... partly due to that EMS experience.

Hey DUezlivin - the storm track appears to be turning away from Tampa.  What do you make of that.  Is it just possible that A) no one can accurately predict these things and B) gloating and wishful DUmmythinking have no effect on weather events?  It is what it is.

Well, concidering that there are going to be murders, beatings, rapes, property destruction, and arson's at the Dems convention; I will take a chance of a hurricane any day.

Not one bit of concern for the people that are in the path of this storm.  However low I set standards for the DUches, they always manage to get under them.

As It looks now this has a higher probability of turning more west than north and head right into the Gulf Coast. That means lots of pain and misery for those, in the words of 0bama (PBUH), folks there. Luckily this time around there are all capable republican governors in those states. However, I would not be surprised if 0bama (PBUH) decides to withhold assistance like he did to Texas in the wild fires.

Looks like my neighbor is going to do well this year. He runs a disaster relief crew(tree and storm debris removal). They were scheduled to come in Friday from a few weeks of work in Virginia. I guess they can get ready to head down to Florida next week maybe.

ETA: He and his crew worked for a few months in New Orleans after Katrina. He said it was the damnest place they had ever worked. Some areas they were assigned to work they had to have shotgun carrying police to protect them.

It's another nadinism.  I think it means being a standby crew where there are important people.  She would probably consider Obama to be one of those, but I wouldn't.

I saw a convoy of 10 DirecTV vans cruising southbound on 95 this afternoon.
I got paid a day early.
Work is geared up for a storm.
People are preping.
