USA Today/Gallup Poll: Paul Ryan gets low marks for VP

Americans don't believe GOP presidential contender Mitt Romney hit a home run with his choice of Paul Ryan as a running mate, a new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds, with more of the public giving him lower marks than high ones.

Ryan, a Wisconsin congressman, is seen as only a "fair" or "poor" choice by 42% of Americans vs. 39% who think he is an "excellent" or "pretty good" vice presidential choice.

I didn't realize those record-breaking crowds yesterday in Wisconsin were protesters.

The owebumaManiMedia is going into over/hyper drive to push the publics opinion towards favoring owebuma.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

The poll of 1,006 adults was taken Sunday. It has a margin of error of +/- 4 percentage points.

I would love to see the internals of this poll.

Don't bother.  The fact that they used the term "adults" as opposed to "registered voters" or "likely voters" says that it's sampling was designed to come up with the results it did.

It's the McPaper.  Of course they don't have "internals".

Gallup doesn't have the poll on their site at all.

I'd believe Ron Paul polls before I bought into this horseshit.

Well, it's actually 1,014. They had a couple of OTR drivers on the road, and the rest were janitors on 3rd shift.

Agreed, milady--if you go to "registered voters," it's likely into the pro-Ryan territory, and likely voters, Ryan probably is up double-digits.

There is another poll by by USA/Gallup saying:

More Republicans than Democrats are engaged in the presidential contest and voter turnout could decrease compared with the 2008 election, according to a Gallup poll on Monday.
Seventy-four percent of Republicans said they’re thinking about the election “quite a lot,” compared to 61 percent of Democrats, the USA Today/Gallup survey found.

The home page lead-in to this piece employs the improper and pejorative usage of "Democrat" as an adjective. "Democrat" is a noun and refers to a person aligned with the Democratic Party. Its deliberate use as an adjective is a standard form of right-wing slanting. It is comparable, on a much weaker level, to words like "spic", "wop", "****" and the like.

This was Politico reporting the poll by the way.  :rotf:

By the way, this poll was taken July 19-22.  Why it was reported today is beyond me.

I do not believe any poll. The exit polls in the Walker recall election is a prime example.

The last time I answered a pollsters questions was during the last election. The asshole was an Obama operative who wanted to know why I was answering the questions that were not favorable to his Messiah. He wanted me to hang up but I would not. Made the shitass do the whole interview. After that, I tell them I am not interested because in most cases the pollsters have an agenda whether it is for a D or R.

The silent majority is going to kick Obama's ass to the curb in Nov.

Polls Scmolls, we still have months until election day. I bet after the conventions and Ryan stomps Biden into the ground in the debate these same polls will be looking better for our side, not to mention the most important poll that happens on Nov 6th when R squared sends 0bama packing.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Ras reports today that his favorables have gone up from 36 to 50 just since the announcement.

Other Ras bits:  Romney 47%, Obama 43%, similar to the last 5 days.

Ohio:  45/45 neck and neck.
