It's about 115 days away yet, when nominations are taken for the Top DUmmies of 2012, but usually this has been the "home stretch" for the primitives seeking fame and glory and notoriety, the three months when they put forth their best efforts to be recognized.

However, the race can get rather volatile, as the Democrat national convention and the presidential election haven't happened yet, and anything can happen there, with new primitives coming to the forefront.

Barring any unusual circumstances with that, however, all else being equal, I'm guessing Omaha Steve, because of his stellar performance in the Nebraska primary last May, is going to glean the top honor this year.

I'm torn. Personally, in the last week, I feel like Grouchy old Don has been making a run for the DOTY but can he sustain?

As things stand right now, Nads is in the lead but I do not wish to vote for her. I think she is doping.

So right now I would vote for Socialist Steve even though I do not think he deserves any votes ever over anything. But he did give us the most genuine entertainment this year.

I still do not understand why he didn't come to Madison, establish residency by flopping on someone's couch for a few days, and then run in the gubernatorial recall race. That would have been his best shot.

Much like Frank, I voted for the big guy, for much the same reasons. He couldn't buy a clue with a truckload of $100 bills.

That said, it is entirely possible that Nads, or some unknown up-and-comer could just jump out (of the bushes?) in the lead.

The DOTY should be a DUmmy that stands out among the other DUmmies, that is a given.  But beyond that, the DOTY should be somewhat embraced and admired by the rest of the DUmp--the archetype of a primitive.  But nadin seems to be despised by so many (zappaman and other stalkers) and the big guy is just treated with indifference.  I think that the ideal Dummy would be an idiot that posts a lot of stupid crap that while it might be kind of embarrassing to the other primitives, they would believe that the DUmmy's heart was in the right place--someone that they would be forced to correct on a regular basis, but gently.  A Dan Rather type.  Or Beth.

Well, the top DUmmie doesn't necessarily have to be a primitive who dominated things all year long; it could be a primitive who made an, uh, unforgettable impression, even if only for a short time during the year.

I think that after www.electstevedawes.com, my fellow Nebraskan became utterly unforgettable.

Maybe he burned out too quickly, but man, he was bright, blinding in his stellar quality, while he was lit.

There's a lot of primitives who've been in the top twenty in the past, or who've been contenders, who haven't been around recently as much as they used to be.

The absence of poor stupid Beth is starting to make me nervous, but there's others.

Some utterly evaporated, some showing up only rarely.

This considerably narrows down the pool of talent from which we can select.
