Big Unit now 2nd in all-time Ks
http://www.azcentral.com/sports/diamondbacks/articles/2008/06/03/20080603unitks.html

Quote
Randy Johnson passed Roger Clemens for second on the all-time strikeout list when he struck out Mike Cameron in the first inning of Tuesday's Diamondbacks game at Milwaukee.

Cameron went down swinging on an 0-2 pitch for the second out of the first inning. The game was delayed briefly as players from both teams and the fans gave him a standing ovation.

The outfield scoreboard also commemorated the moment before Johnson quickly went back to work. Ryan Braun then flied out to end the inning.

The strikeout gave Johnson 4,673. Clemens has 4,672. Both men trail the top strikeout artist, Nolan Ryan, who has 5,714.

You might as well resign yourself to being second.  Nolan Ryan's record ain't coming down.  Ever.

Ditto Cy Young's 511 wins.

Any others that won't be broken in baseball?

Doesn't matter.  A-Rod (Mr. April) will probably take that record away soon enough, even though he's playing like shit so far this year.

Pete Rose's hits probably won't fall.

Possibly.  Even more so when you consider that as of right now, there is NO active player with 3000 hits.

Very few players have more than an average of one hit per game, so for someone to do that, they'd have to be in the league for over 25 years.

I saw him in Las Vegas a couple of years ago. He was sitting in a sports store at the Venetian signing autographs. There was hardly any line at all. It was kind of pitiful.

He also shows up at a sports memorabilia shop over at the Forum Shops at Caesar's.  Reason why there isn't much of a line is because he still thinks he can get $100 a pop for a scribble on a baseball.
