"Most hated people in America". From a New York Post internet poll with 9000 responses. "Click here if you hate X the most", with the Post providing the choices.
I wish we had a "Shit, spit" smiley. This would be a good place for it.
The "Two Minute Hate" from 1984 comes to mind. Create an Other, and whip people into a frenzy of hatred against it. Meanwhile, chocolate rations have been increased from 25 to 20 grams a week.
If you hate, truly hate, someone whom you don't know, and who has never caused harm or poses no threat to your nation, your family, or you, what does that say about you?
I was reading the list and thinking the same thing.
Kim Kardashian? Tiger Woods? etc.
REALLY?
We (Americans)
hate these people?
Good Lord!! I could give a rat's patoot about any of them! They are not in my personal "realm". Their actions have no effect on my life, my kids' lives, my grandkids, or my friends.
There's a lot of people I really dislike. All of them have had an detrimental affect on my life, most of them I personally know. The few I don't, like Obama, I don't know as actual people and they may be ok on a personal level for many, but their actions have affected my life/lifestyle, which causes me to dislike them. But hate them? What a waste of my energy that I need for other things....like work, keeping my house, tending to my daily responsibilities.
If responding to a poll regarding which "celebrities" to hate, is what "Americans" and the media have come to think of as "important"....no wonder this country is so f'd up.
