Why am I not a Republican?

I think it boils down to the fact that you cannot logically justify a taxophobic political acumen that scorches social services while building up the military to Cold War levels, puts less money in the hands of the poor while putting even more money in the hands of the obscenely wealthy, sees the middle class as expendable and easily-replaced “perpetual victims”, writes off blue-collar labor as uneducated complacent relics who refuse to “compete”, demonizes minorities as "system gaming useless eaters", eliminates unions, strips L/G/B/T/Q/I people of their human rights, wants to control everything about women, shifts risk to the people that are least equipped to deal with it and is perfectly all right with the installation of a plutonomy without sounding like a completely selfish and hateful asshole.
"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened."
-- Norman Thomas, six-time Socialist Party presidential candidate and one of the founders of the ACLU

That's virtually the same reason I'm no longer a Democrat; I grew disgusted with those who wanted to place gov't power and authority over individual freedom and liberty.

Let's see, the reason Walker won in Wisconsin was because 1) Republicans cheated, 2) they outspent the Dems 8:1, 3) voters don't like recall elections, 4) they called the election while people were still voting, ...etc.

Remember, these are "intelligent responses" and not emotions.

Why am I not a Republican?

Most likely a combination of magical thinking, placing emotion ahead of analysis, inability to foresee consequences and govern current actions accordingly, and perhaps a few other mental or moral defects of that sort.

I remember reading a study which claimed both liberals and conservatives were more emotional than logical when discussing politics. They used brain imagery to show this.

Shouldn't the poster have made his post a bit more succinct? Maybe like below:

Quote
Why am I not a Republican?

I'm an idiot who has no morals and wants to leech off of others.
“Don’t vote for the person who tells you you deserve something. Just don’t do it if it’s something other than life, liberty, or the pursuit of possible happiness. If everyone is telling you you deserve something, vote for the one who is promising you the least. Be suspicious of the man or woman who tell you deserve everything. Because you don’t.” ---Mike Rowe

Why am I not a Republican?

Generally uneducated, and if so, probably in a field where no demand exists.
Inexperienced because you can't get a job due to lack of education or totally worthless education.
Lazy...see inexperienced.
Lack of morality.
You have "issues".
You want free stuff.
Can't pass a drug screen.
The list is long, Huggy.
No charge for the help, sonnyboy. Have a nice day.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

IQ under 80.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Dang it, that explains the entire list.

I'm not a republican because I don't trust most of them. I vote republican because I trust the democrats to do what they say they will do.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

I'm not sure why you're not a Republican.  My neighbor has a bumper sticker saying she's "too poor" to vote Republican though.  Maybe if you got a little richer you'd enjoy being an R????

I am a Conservative, not a Republican, but if I had to guess Hugh, you are not a Republican because:
-You are OK that the government has replaced the father in the homes of the poor.
-You are OK that any minority that desires to get off the liberal plantation is derided and/or called Uncle Toms.
-You are OK that poor children are deprived of school choice because they might actually attend a school that not only outperforms inner city schools, but also encourages success and breaking out of the cycle of poverty.
-You are OK with killing off the employment of the entire San Joaquin Valley in CA to save the 2" Delta Smelt fish. And, you cheer that as winning the war on climate change whilst an entire region quickly resembles Jakarta.
-You believe in man-made climate change.  And believe that AlGore flying around in his G4 to demonize it does nothing to add to it because he has good intentions.
-You think that the oil companies making 2% profit on gasoline is criminal, but the government charging a 17% surtax is righteous.
-You think the government should stay out of a woman's reproduction planning, unless it is the government forcing fellow taxpayers to pay for their contraception, aborti-facients, sterilization, and abortions.
I just got started Hugh, and I could go on page after page, but I have to prepare for bed, because you know Hugh, I have one of those things called a J O B.
