President Barack Obama’s popularity in Michigan has slipped in recent months, leaving him in a dead heat with Republican challenger Mitt Romney, according to a new poll of state voters by EPIC-MRA of Lansing.

The poll, released this morning to the Free Press and four TV stations, shows Romney leading Obama 46%-45%, a reversal from the last EPIC poll in April which showed Obama ahead 47%-43%.

Obama’s personal and job approval numbers also have slipped, with 46% of Michiganders saying they have a favorable opinion of the president, and 41% approving of the job he’s doing.   ...

It's amazing that any more than the hardcore left representing 20% of the populace, support owebuma's job approval ratings.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

the power of the unions is still formidable in states like Michigan, though slipping in almost direct correlation to the poll. There is still a sizable number of people who think the unions are the be-all, end-all.

I think support for unions is just as high on the left in general than among workers that belong to unions. Maybe it would be more correct to say that unions enjoy more support from the left, than the left enjoys support from union workers.  The Democrat agenda overall does not mesh well with blue collar values.

I think you're onto something there, but from my family members who have stayed loyal to unions (auto industry for the most part), there is a decided sense of entitlement, meaning in essence "I don't have to do shit, because the union will protect me. All I have to do is show up and pay my dues and I can pretty much be assured for a job for life."

I have a cousin who retired at age 55 because of the unions. Toward the end of his time with Chrysler, he bragged about how little he did, about the voluntary layoffs he'd take because he earned almost as much on unemployment as he did by actually showing up to go to work.

This is a guy who has about 40 acres up in the Thumb area of Michigan who runs with the blue collar guys, but it would appear that most of these guys have the same sense of "the union will take care of me."

Disgusting.  :whatever:

As I've mentioned before, even the Witless Georgia Wonder (that's James Earle Carter, for those who are suffering the ill effects of a public education) was doing better than O'Bummer is on his re-Emaculation for Life bid.

Yup. That's the one.  The only guy in Habitat for Humanity who couldn't be smarter than his own hammer.

Don't believe the polls. IMO, Romney is several point ahead of the Magic Negro in MI.

Entirely plausible, given this:

This is good news. However, Independents determine the outcome of Presidential elections. Therefore, if they are not included in the mix, the polling data is meaningless.

Independents have left Obama in large numbers and the young uns are not energized because of the job market. I see no way Obama can win. Romney is going to stomp the Magic Negro badly in Nov. and all of the tainted polls in the world is not going to change that fact.
